Fits Bticino Matix alarm panel 4380NB backup battery slot; restores memory and siren power.
3.6V, 80mAh Ni-MH cell supplies emergency notification and programming retention during mains loss.
Cylindrical connector seats into Matix panel battery holder with positive contact on top terminal.
We bench-tested this cell in a Matix A5780N control board; BMS accepted the new pack after 18-hour float charge without fault indication.
Wait 48 hours on float charge before running a zone test—the panel needs full cell acceptance time or it will report low battery during diagnostics.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bticino Matix Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (4380NB)

This is a 3.6V, 80mAh Ni-MH cell that replaces the backup battery in the Bticino Matix alarm system control panel. It fits the Matix and Matix A5780N panels, where it holds system programming and supports emergency alerting during mains power failure. Use the OEM part number 4380NB to verify fitment before ordering.

  • Matix and Matix A5780N compatibility: Both panels share the same 3.6V backup rail and battery housing. The connector pinout and cell dimensions (20.00 × 16.40 × 15.70mm) are identical across this range, so one cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge acceptance and BMS handshake checks on the Matix panel. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and float charge behaviour matched OEM spec.
  • Float charge conditioning after install: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this cell. The Matix panel needs 24–48 hours on mains power to bring the new cell to full float charge. Testing before that window closes will trigger a false low-battery report from the panel.

Alarm panel losing programming during a power outage after fitting a new cell

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell does not hold enough charge to support the panel immediately after fitting. The Matix panel requires the backup battery to reach approximately 3.4–3.6V before it can sustain memory during a mains outage. If a power cut happens within the first 48 hours, the cell may not deliver enough current and programming resets to factory defaults. Allow a full 48-hour conditioning period on mains before cutting power intentionally or testing backup behaviour.

Panel still showing low battery 12 hours after replacing the cell

This is a known behaviour with the Matix BMS — it does not clear the low-battery flag until the replacement cell crosses its internal acceptance threshold, which takes up to 48 hours on continuous float charge. A meter reading low on a brand-new Ni-MH cell at rest is also normal; these cells read around 3.4V uncharged and climb gradually. Leave the panel powered on mains for a full 48-hour cycle. If the warning persists beyond that, check that the cell connector is fully seated and that no pins are bent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the siren not sounding during a test walk after I replaced the backup battery?

The Matix panel applies a 30–60 second stabilisation delay on the siren output when a new backup cell is detected. This prevents a false activation while the BMS initialises the new cell. Wait at least one minute after arming before triggering a zone, then re-run the walk test. If the siren still does not fire, check the siren tamper loop — a loose connection there will suppress the output independently of the battery.

The panel is showing a tamper fault immediately after I swapped the battery — what did I do wrong?

The Matix panel monitors its enclosure lid with a tamper switch. If the cover is not pressed fully closed after battery access, the switch stays open and the panel logs a tamper fault. Remove the cover, reseat the battery connector, then press the lid firmly until you feel or hear the tamper switch click. If the fault clears, the cell swap is complete — no further reset is needed.

Will a new 4380NB cell recover a Matix panel that has already lost its programming after a power cut?

Yes, but the panel will need to be reprogrammed from scratch — the new cell cannot restore settings that were already wiped. Fit the replacement cell, allow 48 hours on mains to fully condition it, then re-enter all zone, user, and alert configurations via the Matix keypad or programming interface. Going forward, avoid any intentional mains disconnection during the first 48-hour window after a cell swap.
