This is a 7.2V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Honeywell TSS wireless keypad and associated alarm panel hardware. It fits the TSS Keypad, Lynx Plus, L5000 Panel, and 8DLLKP500 among others, all of which share the same 300-06868 cell format. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec exactly.

  • Multi-model fit across the Lynx and L5000 platform: These panels and keypads share the same battery compartment geometry, connector type, and 7.2V Ni-MH charge circuit. A single cell spec covers the full group because the charge management on each unit expects the same voltage curve and internal resistance range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an L5000 panel and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge cycle without tripping a fault. Voltage under float settled correctly, and the panel cleared its low-battery flag after the conditioning window.

This is normal behaviour on Honeywell Lynx and L5000 hardware. The panel's battery monitor checks voltage against a threshold, but a freshly installed Ni-MH cell hasn't reached full float charge yet. The cell may read 6.8–7.0V on installation, which sits below the panel's pass threshold of approximately 7.2V. Leave the system powered and connected for 24–48 hours — the fault flag will clear once the cell reaches full charge.

Alarm losing programmed zones after a mains power cut

If the panel drops its zone programming during a power outage after a battery swap, the new cell hadn't been accepted by the backup circuit yet. Honeywell panels require the backup battery to complete a conditioning cycle before it can hold the panel's memory under load. A cell swapped hours before a power cut may not yet supply stable voltage when mains drops. Restore mains power, allow a full 48-hour conditioning period, then confirm the backup circuit is active before the next outage.

My Honeywell TSS keypad stopped responding during a power outage even though I just put in a new battery — what happened?

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell hasn't built up enough charge to sustain the keypad under load if mains power drops within the first few hours. The backup circuit on these keypads needs a conditioning period before it can deliver stable current during an outage. Restore mains, leave the system powered for at least 48 hours, then confirm the keypad responds correctly with mains disconnected at the breaker.
