Fits Texecom Odyssey Extended Life Siren Alarm and GP250BVH6A6 or BAT001 battery slots.
7.2V at 600mAh keeps the external siren powered during security events and alarm signaling cycles.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no locking tab — orientation matters on first seating.
We ran the cell through three discharge cycles on bench; the Ni-MH BMS accepted charge without fault codes.
Do not run a siren test for 24–48 hours after installation — the panel needs float charge time before accepting the new cell as fully charged.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Texecom Odyssey Extended Life Siren Alarm — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (GP250BVH6A6)

This is a 7.2V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Texecom Odyssey Extended Life Siren Alarm and compatible Odyssey Bell Box Sounders. It matches OEM part numbers GP250BVH6A6 and BAT001. When the original cell depletes after years of standby service, this battery restores the siren's backup power so it can sound during a mains outage.

  • Odyssey Bell Box compatibility: The Odyssey Extended Life Siren and Odyssey Bell Box Sounders share the same 7.2V Ni-MH cell format, connector type, and BMS charge circuit. One battery fits across the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Texecom alarm circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge profile without fault flags. Voltage held stable at 7.2V nominal across the full charge cycle.
  • Float charge conditioning before first test: Do not run a zone test immediately after fitting this battery. Allow 24–48 hours on float charge first. The panel reads cell voltage continuously — a partially charged Ni-MH cell will trigger a low-battery fault even if the battery itself is healthy.

Why the Odyssey siren stays silent on alarm after a battery swap

After fitting a fresh Ni-MH cell, some Odyssey units will not sound immediately on a triggered alarm. The siren's internal circuit holds off activation for 30–60 seconds while it stabilises charge from the new battery. This is normal behaviour — it is not a wiring fault or a failed battery. If the siren still does not sound after a full 48-hour charge period, check that the tamper switch is fully seated and the lid is closed correctly before investigating further.

Panel still reporting low battery 10 minutes after fitting a new cell

The Texecom panel samples backup battery voltage on a timed cycle, not instantly on power-up. A brand-new Ni-MH cell arrives partially discharged from storage — typically reading 6.8–7.0V rather than the 7.2V nominal the panel expects. The panel will continue to report low battery until the cell reaches full float charge, which takes 24–48 hours connected to the alarm's trickle circuit. If the fault clears by the 48-hour mark, the battery and circuit are functioning correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Texecom panel cleared the low battery fault after a few days, but now it's back — is the new battery already failing?

Ni-MH cells in standby alarm applications can show this pattern if the panel's trickle charge current is too low to maintain float voltage during cold weather, causing the cell to drift below the panel's fault threshold overnight. Check that the bell box lid is fully closed — a partial tamper contact interrupts the charge circuit on some Odyssey units. If the lid is fully seated and the fault returns cyclically, measure the cell voltage directly: a healthy cell should read 7.2–7.56V after 48 hours on charge. Anything below 6.8V after a full charge period points to a wiring fault rather than the battery.

The alarm triggered during a power cut but the siren didn't sound — the bell box just flashed its LED. Why?

The LED flashing without audio usually means the siren driver received the trigger signal but the battery voltage dropped below the minimum threshold needed to drive the sounder transducer. A Ni-MH cell that has sat in deep discharge for an extended period may read near nominal voltage on a meter but collapse under the current load of the siren. Fit the replacement battery and leave it on float charge for 48 hours before testing. Run a full walk-test after that period to confirm the sounder activates correctly.

The Texecom panel lost its zone programming during a mains power cut — could the replacement battery be the cause?

Yes — if the battery was fitted recently and had not yet completed its 24–48 hour conditioning period, it would not have held sufficient charge to back up the panel's RAM during the outage. Ni-MH cells need time on the trickle circuit before they can deliver sustained current under load. Reprogram the panel, then allow a full 48-hour charge cycle before testing backup retention by briefly removing the mains supply. The panel should hold all settings with the cell at full charge.
