Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Artisan PMS Lasair II 310 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 14.4V Li-ion battery replaces the internal power pack in the PMS Lasair II 310, 310B, 350L, and 550L portable particle counters. Capacity is 7800mAh (112.32Wh). These are handheld air particle detection instruments used in pharmaceutical cleanrooms and medical device manufacturing lines where continuous uptime matters.
- Lasair II 310, 310B, 350L, and 550L compatibility: All four models share the same 14.4V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The cell pack slots into the same battery bay across the series with no modification required.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the Lasair II 310 platform and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The protection circuit held cutoff within spec at both ends of the voltage window.
- Power-on self-test after installation: After installing this battery, let the Lasair II run through its full startup self-test cycle without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification pass at boot — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a persistent battery fault that will not clear until the unit completes a clean reboot from a full charge.
BMS learn cycle on the Lasair II and why the first 10 cycles matter
The Lasair II 310's charge management system tracks cell behaviour over successive cycles to build an accurate state-of-charge model. A fresh cell does not match the stored chemistry profile from the previous battery, so the BMS applies conservative charge and discharge limits until it logs enough cycle data. During those first cycles, the unit may report lower capacity than the cell actually holds. Run the instrument through at least one full charge-discharge cycle before using it in a clinical or cleanroom qualification run — the BMS model stabilises and reported capacity aligns with actual cell output by cycle 3 to 5.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge
On first charge, the Lasair II's charge IC applies a reduced current ceiling to a cell it has not yet profiled, which means the charge termination voltage is hit before the cell is fully conditioned. The display may stop at 90–95% and hold there. This is not a fault with the battery or the charger circuit. Run a full discharge under normal operating conditions and then recharge completely — the charge IC recalibrates its termination threshold, and subsequent charges will reach 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Lasair II 310 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge — is the new battery faulty?
It is not faulty. The Lasair II's BMS compares the incoming cell against a stored OEM chemistry threshold, and a new cell needs at least one full charge-discharge cycle before it passes that threshold cleanly. Run the unit until it shuts itself off from low voltage, then charge it fully without interruption. After that first complete cycle, the low-battery alarm clears and the BMS recognises the cell correctly.
The Lasair II won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage for a few months — what happened?
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack dropped below approximately 10.0V the BMS will have tripped into deep-discharge lockout to protect the cells. In that state the device will not power on regardless of the charger showing activity. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 to 60 minutes without attempting to power the unit — the charge IC applies a trickle recovery current to bring the pack above the BMS re-initialisation threshold, typically around 11.0V, before normal charging resumes.
The Lasair II shut off unexpectedly mid-sample run — the battery showed more than 50% charge before the session started.
The Lasair II's laser particle sensor draws a sharp current spike each time it fires, and in the first 10 cycles a new cell's internal resistance is higher than a conditioned pack. That spike causes a momentary voltage sag that the BMS reads as an undervoltage event and triggers a protective shutdown, even when state-of-charge appears healthy. The issue resolves as the cell conditions through normal use. Until then, start sampling sessions from a full charge — a higher resting voltage gives more headroom above the BMS cutoff threshold during sensor-draw spikes.
