Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ascom FuG11B / SE140 Series — 7.5V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (CPA141)
This is a 7.5V, 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ascom FuG11B, SE110, and SE140 portable two-way radios. It matches OEM part numbers CPA141, CPA2800, and ASCAK141. Capacity figures are sourced from product data — 1200mAh at 9Wh.
- FuG11B and SE140 platform fit: The FuG11B, SE110, and SE140 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 7.5V supply rail. One pack covers all three models without any modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through a full charge cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted charge without fault flagging. Transmit-load current draw was stable across multiple PTT press cycles, with no mid-cycle cutoff.
- Contact strip condition on first dock insertion: If the charger shows a fault indication on first use, remove the pack, wipe the battery contact strip with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat it firmly. The Ascom dock requires a clean contact cycle to handshake with the new pack's BMS before it will begin charging.
Why the FuG11B BMS trips on hard PTT press with a new Ni-MH pack
Pressing PTT on a two-way radio draws a short transmit-current spike that can be two to three times the steady-state draw. A new Ni-MH cell sitting at storage voltage — typically around 7.2V — has slightly higher internal impedance than a conditioned cell. If that impedance causes the voltage to dip below the BMS cutoff threshold during the spike, the pack shuts off. The fix is to run one or two full charge cycles before heavy use, which lowers impedance and brings resting voltage up to the 7.5V nominal rail.
Bar indicator reads one bar low on a fully charged new pack
The FuG11B uses a simple voltage-threshold indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a calculated state of charge. A new Ni-MH pack often ships at 70–80% storage charge, which sits in the second-to-top voltage band and displays one fewer bar than a fully charged cell. This is not a capacity fault. Dock the pack for a complete charge cycle until the charger shows green, then recheck the indicator — it should read full.

Frequently Asked Questions
The charger dock light never turns green after I installed the new CPA141 pack — it just blinks the whole time. What's wrong?
A blinking fault LED usually means the dock measured the pack voltage below its acceptance threshold on first insertion. This happens when the new Ni-MH cell arrives at storage voltage rather than full charge. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, reseat it firmly, and let the dock attempt a fresh handshake. If the fault clears, the charge cycle will begin normally and the LED will go solid before switching to green at completion.
My FuG11B drops to noticeably weaker audio output mid-shift — the pack was fully charged at the start. Is the battery dying already?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not early cell failure. Ni-MH cells show a steeper voltage curve in the lower third of their capacity, and the FuG11B's audio and transmit circuits reduce output when the supply rail dips. Check the bar indicator when the drop occurs — if you're seeing one or two bars, the pack is approaching the bottom of its usable range for that shift, not defective. A full dock cycle overnight should restore full output the next day.
The radio worked fine on the first day, but after two weeks sitting unused the pack won't seem to hold charge at all. What happened?
Ni-MH cells self-discharge faster than Li-ion — roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature, faster in warm storage. After two weeks unused, the pack can drop below the dock's minimum acceptance voltage, causing the charger to reject it or cycle without completing. Place the pack in the dock and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle of at least four hours. If the dock accepts it and the LED reaches green, the pack is recovered; the first post-storage cycle often takes longer than normal before the cell voltage stabilises at 7.5V.
