Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 Series — 15.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C41N1802)
This is a 15.4V, 4850mAh (74.69Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Asus ROG GX701GVR-EV001T, GX701GX-EV081T, GX701GWR-EV003T, and GX735GVR-EV015T, among others. It uses OEM part numbers C41N1802 and 0B200-03140100. It replaces the original 4-cell pack when the laptop no longer holds adequate charge during portable use.
- GX701 and GX735 platform compatibility: These models share the same 15.4V four-cell battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The ROG GX701 and GX735 lines use the same power rail configuration, so C41N1802 covers the full series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a GX701 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly, the fuel gauge IC registered the new capacity without error, and the protection circuit held at both thermal and voltage thresholds under sustained CPU and GPU load.
- Post-install calibration on ROG gaming laptops: After fitting this battery, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff under normal load, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on ROG systems.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after installation
The ROG GX701 reads health data from EEPROM embedded in the original battery pack. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS compares its stored reference data against the fresh cell and flags a mismatch as degraded health. This is a firmware-side artefact, not a cell fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the BIOS learn cycle and rewrites the health register. After two to three cycles, the reported health figure normalises to reflect the new cell's actual state.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge was mapped to the old, degraded cell and still triggers a low-voltage shutdown at the wrong threshold. Under full CPU and GPU load, the GX701's draw can exceed 60W from the battery alone, which causes a rapid voltage sag the uncalibrated gauge misreads as imminent cutoff. Run two full discharge cycles — all the way to automatic hibernate — then charge to 100% each time. By the third cycle the fuel gauge tracks accurately and shutdown should not occur until the cell reaches approximately 3.0V per cell.

The Wh figure displayed in Windows or BIOS is pulled from the EEPROM data on the old cell's firmware profile, not read live from the new cell. The C41N1802 replacement carries a rated 74.69Wh, but until the BIOS learn cycle completes, it may display the last stored value from the degraded pack. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the system reads the new cell's actual rated capacity and the Wh figure updates correctly.
My GX701 fuel gauge is jumping around — showing 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes of unplugging — is the replacement cell faulty?
The fuel gauge IC on the GX701 platform calibrates its state-of-charge algorithm against accumulated charge and discharge history. A brand-new cell has no history, so the IC interpolates wildly across the first few cycles. This is normal behaviour and not a cell defect. Run three full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles without interrupting the charge; by the third cycle the IC has enough data to track voltage accurately and the gauge will stabilise.
The new battery charges fine but the charge stops at 80% and never goes higher — what is blocking it?
The GX701 ships with Asus Battery Health Charging enabled in MyASUS or BIOS, which caps charge at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress during plugged-in use. This is a BIOS-controlled firmware limit, not a fault with the replacement cell. Open the MyASUS application, navigate to Battery Health Charging, and switch the mode from Balanced (80%) to Full Capacity Mode. The next charge cycle will run to 100%.
