Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlackBerry Classic Q20 / SQC100-1 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BPCLS00001B)
This 3.8V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the BlackBerry Classic, Classic 4G, Q20, and SQC100-1. It matches the OEM footprint at 92.93 × 57.31 × 3.02mm and uses the same BPCLS00001B part reference. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds a full charge or shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- Classic / Q20 platform fit: The Q20, SQC100-1, Classic, and Classic 4G all share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the entire platform without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Classic Q20 unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.
Why the Classic reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The BlackBerry Classic uses a coulomb-counter fuel gauge IC that builds its charge model against the original cell's discharge curve over hundreds of cycles. When you install a new 2500mAh cell, the IC is still referencing an aged cell model — typically one that drifted low on capacity. Until the IC recalibrates, percentage readings will be inaccurate and may jump erratically. Run one full discharge from 100% down to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the gauge will rebuild its reference map against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated to the new cell's voltage curve — the phone doesn't recognise where the real voltage cliff sits. Under modem radio or screen load, the cell voltage dips sharply in the 3.5–3.6V range, and the BMS cuts power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The fix is the same recalibration cycle: one full discharge to forced shutoff, then a full uninterrupted charge. After that cycle, the IC maps the actual cutoff voltage to the correct percentage on the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My BlackBerry Classic won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Almost certainly not. Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the voltage dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS locks out as a protection measure and the phone won't power on or show a charge indicator. Plug it into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. Most BMS circuits will accept a trickle pre-charge from that voltage floor and recover the cell enough to boot.
Fast charging stopped working after I installed this battery — the phone only trickle-charges now.
On the first cycle after installation, the BMS on the new cell may not immediately handshake with the charge IC's proprietary fast-charge protocol. The phone defaults to standard 5V charging as a fallback rather than throwing an error. Run one full standard-rate charge to 100%, then discharge normally. On the second cycle, the handshake completes correctly and fast charging resumes — verify by checking that the charging indicator changes to the fast-charge icon within two minutes of plugging in.
The battery feels noticeably warm near the bottom of the Classic while charging — is that normal with a new cell?
A new Li-Polymer cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which generates more heat at the same charge current during the first few cycles. This is expected and reduces after three to five full cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the back of the device becomes uncomfortable to hold or the phone throttles the display brightness automatically, stop the charge and check the charge IC isn't stuck in a high-current state — plug into a standard 5W charger and complete one full cycle before using a higher-wattage adapter.
