Why the M800 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The M800's BMS holds threshold values calibrated to the original cell's charge curve. A new replacement cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile in its first few cycles, which causes the BMS to read state-of-charge conservatively. This triggers a low-battery alarm even when the cell is at or near full capacity. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the BMS recalibrates its threshold to the new cell — the alarm clears and the charge indicator reads accurately from that point forward.

M800 will not power on after the replacement battery has been in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V, the M800's BMS enters a protection state and will not initiate boot — the device appears completely dead. Connect the M800 to its charger and leave it undisturbed for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC applies a low-current recovery charge to bring the cell above the BMS wake threshold, typically around 3.0V, before normal charging resumes.

The M800 is showing a low battery warning right after I charged the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The M800's BMS uses threshold values tuned to the original battery's charge curve, and a new cell reads as lower state-of-charge than it actually is until the BMS recalibrates. Run one full charge-discharge cycle — charge the device to completion, allow it to discharge under normal use, then charge fully again. After that cycle, the low-battery alarm will trigger at the correct point.

The M800 won't finish booting after I swapped the battery — it gets partway through the startup screen and stops.

The device is likely interrupting its own boot sequence because the BMS hasn't completed its learn cycle on the new cell. Connect the M800 to the charger before powering it on, then let the device boot while plugged in. This gives the BMS a stable voltage reference during the startup verification sequence. Once the device has completed one full boot on charge, it will power on normally from the battery alone.

The M800 is shutting off unexpectedly during use even though the battery indicator shows charge remaining.

In the first 10 cycles on a new cell, the M800's load profile — particularly during active monitoring or diagnostics — draws current spikes that stress the new cell harder than a conditioned one. The BMS interprets the resulting voltage sag as a depleted cell and triggers a protective shutdown before the indicated charge is exhausted. Complete five to ten full charge-discharge cycles under normal clinical use and the BMS will adjust its cutoff model to the replacement cell's actual discharge curve. Do not use the device clinically until this conditioning is complete.
