Fits Hytera HP700, HP705, HP780, and HP785 radios; replaces OEM part numbers BP2403 and BP3003.
7.7V, 2400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers steady voltage under sustained RF transmission without mid-shift sag.
Gold contact strip mates flush to the radio's charging dock with a positive mechanical lock and no play.
We bench-tested this pack on a Hytera charging dock; the BMS accepted full charge cycle and transmitted at rated power.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Hytera platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hytera HP700 Series — 7.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP2403)

This 7.7V, 2400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the BP2403 and BP3003 in the Hytera HP700, HP705, HP780, and HP785 portable two-way radios. These radios are used in public safety, security, and commercial field operations where communication cannot drop. Capacity figures are taken directly from product data — 18.48Wh total energy.

  • HP700 and HP780 platform fit: The HP700, HP705, HP780, and HP785 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers all four models without any adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on the HP780 and monitored BMS response through PTT-triggered transmit current spikes. The BMS held without tripping across repeated full-power TX bursts.
  • First insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Hytera dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the HP700 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BP2403

A new Li-ion pack ships at storage voltage — typically 3.7–3.8V per cell, not full charge. When the HP700 fires a high-power TX burst, the BMS sees a sudden current draw against a partially charged cell and triggers an overcurrent cutoff. The radio goes silent mid-transmission even though the battery is brand new. A full charge cycle before the first field shift eliminates this. Once the cells are at 4.2V per cell, the BMS has enough headroom to handle transmit spikes cleanly.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the BP2403

The HP700 series uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads pack voltage directly and maps it to bars. A new cell at storage voltage sits below the top threshold, so the radio shows three bars instead of four even with a fresh pack. This is not a fault. Charge the battery fully in the dock until the LED goes green, then reinsert — the indicator will read the correct voltage and display the expected bar count.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HP700 goes silent partway through a transmission even though the battery is new — what's happening?

A new pack ships at storage voltage, not full charge. When PTT fires a high-power RF burst, the BMS detects a current spike against a low cell and cuts the circuit to protect the pack. The radio drops mid-transmission as a result. Charge the BP2403 to full in the dock before the first use — once cells reach 4.2V per cell, the BMS handles transmit current spikes without tripping.

The HP700 is dropping to noticeably weaker audio and reduced TX range toward the end of a long shift — is the pack failing?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a failed pack. As cell voltage drops under repeated transmit loads across a shift, the radio's power management steps down TX output to stay within operating voltage. The pack itself is behaving correctly. Carry a second charged BP2403 for shifts longer than standard duty cycles, or rotate packs at the halfway point to keep cell voltage above the sag threshold.

The charger dock fault LED never clears after I insert the BP2403 — it just keeps blinking.

If the pack has been sitting uncharged for an extended period, cell voltage may have dropped below the Hytera dock's acceptance threshold. The dock won't begin a standard charge cycle on a pack it reads as too low. Remove the pack, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes, then reinsert. If the fault LED persists, check that the gold contact strip is clean and making firm contact — a poor connection produces the same fault signal as a low-voltage rejection.
