Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

I-Mate SP JAS — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BERR160)
This 3.7V 1250mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the I-Mate SP JAS smartphone. It fits the SP JAS directly and matches the OEM voltage and connector layout. Capacity is rated at 4.63Wh — identical to the factory specification.
- SP JAS platform fit: The SP JAS uses a single-cell Li-Polymer pack with a low-profile connector and a thin 5.94mm cell envelope. This replacement matches that form factor exactly — same cell dimensions at 64.58 x 41.71 x 5.94mm — so the battery cover seats flush without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SP JAS platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge current ramped normally, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff with no unexpected shutdowns during the test cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installing this cell, disable fast charging if available and run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the SP JAS fuel gauge IC one complete cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve before reporting accurate percentages.
Why the SP JAS reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The SP JAS tracks charge state using a fuel gauge IC that builds its model against the old cell's discharge curve over many cycles. When a new cell goes in, that learned curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry. The IC reports percentage based on stale data, so the display shows values that don't reflect real charge state. One full uninterrupted discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge forces the IC to reset its coulomb counter reference and re-anchor to the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or screen draws peak current and the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge predicts — crossing the low-voltage cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The BMS cuts power to protect the cell, and the phone shuts off mid-use with charge still showing on screen. The fix is that same first-cycle full discharge — let the phone run completely to shutdown naturally, then charge to 100% without interruption. After one full cycle, the fuel gauge recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SP JAS powered off at around 25% and now won't turn back on — is the battery dead?
The BMS tripped into lockout after voltage dropped below the protection threshold under load. This is a safety cut, not a failed cell. Plug the phone into a charger and leave it for at least 20 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC needs to push enough current in to lift the cell voltage above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 3.0V per cell.
My SP JAS feels warm near the battery while charging the new cell — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a worn cell, so the charge IC works harder in the first few cycles and generates more heat as a result. This is expected and settles after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's impedance drops. If the device stays warm throughout a full charge and doesn't cool down after the first few cycles, check that the back cover is seated correctly and not trapping heat against the cell.
The battery percentage jumps erratically — it read 60%, then skipped to 35% in minutes — what's causing that?
The fuel gauge IC on the SP JAS is still running its charge-state model against the old cell's discharge curve, so voltage readings trigger incorrect percentage jumps when current draw changes suddenly. This is a calibration issue, not a faulty cell. Run one complete discharge cycle — use the phone normally until it shuts itself off — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without removing the charger. The coulomb counter resets against the new curve and erratic jumping stops.
