Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JVC BN-60U / BN-V Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 6V, 4200mAh (25.2Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for JVC compact cameras and camcorders. It fits the BN-60U, BN-V11U, BN-V12, BN-V14U, and over 221 additional BN-V series models. Drop it in where the original battery has lost capacity or stopped holding a charge.
- BN-V series platform fit: JVC built the BN-V line around a shared 6V Ni-MH voltage rail and a common connector footprint. That consistency across compact and camcorder bodies is why one cell covers so many models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge on BN-V series hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without interruption, and voltage held steady across the discharge curve through normal recording draw.
- First-cycle conditioning on Ni-MH: Ni-MH cells benefit from a full charge through the OEM charger or camera body before first heavy use. This allows the battery management system to map the cell's actual capacity range and return accurate charge indicators on the display.
Why JVC camcorders show a dead battery indicator on a partially charged Ni-MH cell
JVC's battery indicator maps voltage thresholds to charge percentage using a curve calibrated to the original cell. A new or unconditioned Ni-MH cell has a flatter discharge curve than a worn cell, so the camera reads mid-charge voltages as near-empty. This is a mapping mismatch, not a fault in the replacement cell. Run one full charge-discharge cycle through the OEM charger, and the indicator will track correctly.
Battery percentage jumping erratically during recording
Erratic percentage readings happen when the camera's voltage-to-capacity lookup table doesn't match the discharge curve of the new cell. Ni-MH cells have a relatively flat mid-range voltage, which causes the indicator to skip steps rather than move smoothly. This is most visible in the first few cycles before the BMS has sampled the new cell's behaviour. After two to three full cycles, the display stabilises — confirm the cell is reading correctly by checking that voltage sits above 5.4V at the halfway point of a full discharge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My JVC camcorder shows "no battery" or won't power on with the new cell installed — what's happening?
JVC BMS units on BN-V series bodies sometimes reject an uncharged replacement cell on first install because the resting voltage sits below the camera's power-on threshold. Place the battery in the OEM charger first and run a full charge before inserting it into the body. If the camera still shows no battery, remove and reinsert the cell to trigger a fresh BMS handshake. The camera should recognise the cell once it reads above 5.8V at rest.
Shot count is much lower than expected — flash barely recycling between shots on the new battery
Flash capacitor recharge pulls a high burst of current each cycle, and that draw compounds quickly alongside continuous autofocus and image stabilisation. Ni-MH cells also deliver slightly lower peak current than Li-ion alternatives, so flash recycle times extend as the cell drops below 5.5V. This is normal behaviour for the chemistry, not a defect. Reduce continuous flash use in burst sequences to keep the cell above the voltage sag threshold and maintain full recycle speed.
The replacement battery drains noticeably faster in cold weather than the original did — is it faulty?
Ni-MH cells lose available capacity at low temperatures because internal resistance rises as the electrolyte cools, reducing how much charge the cell can deliver before voltage drops below cutoff. At temperatures under 10°C, capacity can fall 15–25% compared to room-temperature performance. This affects all Ni-MH cells, including OEM units — older originals often mask this because users are accustomed to their already-degraded capacity. Warm the battery to room temperature before shooting in cold conditions and the full 4200mAh capacity will be available.
