Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MetroPCS ZMax Pro — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This 3.85V, 3400mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the MetroPCS ZMax Pro smartphone. It fits the ZMax Pro directly, restoring power to the display, processor, and wireless radios. Capacity is rated at 13.09Wh and dimensions are 86.00 × 66.30 × 4.10 mm.
- ZMax Pro fitment: The ZMax Pro uses a fixed-form Li-Polymer pouch cell at 3.85V nominal. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical envelope, so the charge IC sees the correct cell chemistry without a BMS mismatch flagging a fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge-discharge sequence and monitored BMS communication with the phone's charge IC. Cut-off voltages triggered correctly at both the high and low end, and the cell held within 2% of rated capacity across the first three cycles.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins — skipping this step causes percentage readings to drift for days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
The ZMax Pro's SoC pulls hard on the battery when the modem switches between LTE bands or the screen hits full brightness. A new cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge IC can report 25% remaining while actual cell voltage drops below the hardware cutoff under that load spike. The phone shuts off not because the battery is empty, but because instantaneous voltage sag trips the protection circuit before the gauge catches up. Run one full discharge to near-zero and a full charge at standard rate — after that cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and shutdowns at false-low percentages stop.
OS reporting wrong battery percentage after cell swap
Android's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so the percentage shown can be 10–15 points off in either direction. The fix is one uninterrupted discharge from 100% down to auto-shutdown, then a full charge without interruption. After that single cycle the coulomb counter resets its reference and reported percentage aligns with real cell voltage — verified at 3.70V mid-charge on the bench.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my ZMax Pro shut off suddenly when the battery still shows 20% or more?
This is a voltage cliff issue — under modem or display load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track, and the phone cuts power to protect the hardware even though the reported percentage looks fine. The fuel gauge is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a complete uninterrupted charge at standard rate. After that cycle the coulomb counter resets and the shutdowns stop.
Fast charging isn't working on my ZMax Pro after I put in the new battery — it only charges at the slow rate.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the phone's charge IC can refuse to negotiate the higher current rate because it hasn't yet confirmed the new BMS is responding within expected parameters. This is a one-cycle safety behaviour, not a fault. Charge fully at the standard rate once, then disconnect and reconnect — the fast charge handshake completes normally from the second cycle onward. If fast charging still won't engage after two full cycles, check that the USB-C cable supports the required current rating for the ZMax Pro's charge protocol.
My ZMax Pro won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in the phone for a few weeks without charging.
If cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks current flow to protect the cell from damage. The phone appears completely dead and won't respond to the power button. Connect to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC applies a trickle current to bring the cell above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 3.0V, after which normal charging resumes and the phone powers on.
