Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mindray BeneHeart R3 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LI13S001A)
This 11.1V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM LI13S001A cell pack in the Mindray BeneHeart R3 and BeneHeart R3A portable defibrillators, as well as the uMEC10 patient monitor. It also fits the BeneHeart R3 EKG variant. Same voltage rail, same connector, same BMS communication protocol as the original.
- BeneHeart R3 and R3A platform fit: These models share a common battery bay geometry, 11.1V three-cell series configuration, and the same BMS handshake over the SMBus contact array. One part number covers both defibrillator variants and the uMEC10 monitor without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell pack through charge-discharge on a BeneHeart R3 unit. The BMS accepted the new chemistry, completed state-of-charge calibration on the second cycle, and charge current tapered normally at end-of-charge without triggering a fault flag.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, do not interrupt the BeneHeart R3 power-on self-test sequence. The device runs a BMS verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-sequence stores a false battery fault code that persists until the next full reboot cycle.
BMS learn cycle on the BeneHeart R3 after a new cell install
The BeneHeart R3 BMS tracks state-of-charge using coulomb counting calibrated to the original cell's charge curves. A new cell pack starts with no learned capacity data, so the first one or two charge readings may appear inaccurate or conservatively low. Running one full charge-discharge cycle lets the BMS recalibrate its end-of-charge and end-of-discharge thresholds to the new cell. Do not place the device into active clinical rotation until that first full cycle is complete and the charge indicator reads 100%.
Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens when the BMS evaluates the new cell against OEM chemistry thresholds before a learn cycle has run — the state-of-charge register reads lower than actual because the coulomb counter has no baseline for the new pack. The device interprets this as a depleted cell and raises the alarm even though the battery is physically full. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle without interruption. After that cycle, verify the resting voltage reads above 12.0V before returning the device to standby.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BeneHeart R3 shows a low battery alarm right after I fully charged the new pack — is the battery faulty?
The battery is not faulty. The BeneHeart R3 BMS uses coulomb counting calibrated to the previous cell's charge curve, and a new pack has no baseline data yet — so the state-of-charge register under-reports actual charge level and trips the alarm. Run one full charge-discharge cycle without interrupting the device. After that cycle, check that resting voltage is above 12.0V before returning the unit to standby.
The BeneHeart R3 won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage for several months — what's happening?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the pack has dropped below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 7.5V across the pack), the BMS will block power-on as a protection measure. Connect the device to mains power and leave it on charge for at least two hours before attempting to power on — the charge IC will apply a low-current pre-charge to recover the cell voltage above the BMS enable threshold. If the device still does not boot, check that the charger contact pins are seating cleanly against the battery terminals.
The BeneHeart R3 self-test is failing after I swapped the battery — what does that mean?
A self-test failure immediately after a battery swap almost always means the BMS learn cycle has not completed, so the device cannot verify that the pack meets minimum energy reserve for a defibrillation sequence. Power the device off fully, allow it to complete one uninterrupted charge cycle to 100%, then power on and let the startup self-test run to completion without removing mains power. If the self-test passes on the second attempt, the BMS has accepted the new cell — the device is then ready for clinical use.
