Fits Panasonic Lumix DMC-F7-B and compatible models; replaces CGA-S101, CGA-S101A, CGA-S101E, CGR-S101A, DMW-BC7.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 700mAh delivers 2.59Wh — standard output for this compact camera's sensor and flash system.
Connector slides straight into camera battery slot; no locking tab, seats flush when fully inserted into the housing.
We cycled this cell through five charge-discharge passes in the DMC-F7-B body; BMS accepted the pack on first boot.
On initial insertion, run one full charge cycle through the camera body before heavy shooting — Panasonic firmware needs internal BMS handshake to sync charge display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-F7 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CGA-S101)

This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion replacement for the CGA-S101 battery cell. It fits the Panasonic Lumix DMC-F7-B, DMC-F7-N, DMC-F7PP, and related F7 compact cameras. Cross-references include CGA-S101A, CGA-S101E, CGR-S101A, and DMW-BC7.

  • F7 series compatibility: All Lumix DMC-F7 variants share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol — so one cell fits across the entire F7 line without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an F7-B body. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, voltage hold under flash load stayed within the camera's operating threshold, and capacity readout stabilised after one full charge cycle completed inside the camera body.
  • First-use charge cycle on F7 bodies: Run one complete charge cycle from within the camera body or OEM charger before heavy shooting. The F7's battery-remaining indicator maps voltage thresholds to a known discharge curve — a new cell needs one full cycle before the display reads accurately.

Flash output dropping mid-shoot on a new CGA-S101 cell

The F7's built-in flash pulls a sharp capacitor recharge current after each shot. A cell under partial charge may sag below the camera's minimum voltage threshold during that recharge draw, causing the flash to fire at reduced output or skip entirely. This isn't a defective cell — it's a voltage sag event. Keep the cell above 3.5V during extended flash shooting to avoid it.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the F7 display

The DMC-F7 maps its battery indicator to a discharge voltage curve calibrated during the first full charge cycle. A replacement cell that hasn't completed that cycle presents a slightly different open-circuit voltage profile, so the camera misreads the state of charge and the percentage jumps. Charge the cell fully in the camera body once, then discharge it through normal use. After one complete cycle, the indicator stabilises and tracks accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Lumix DMC-F7 shows a dead battery icon immediately after inserting a fully charged replacement CGA-S101 — what's happening?

The F7 body runs a BMS authentication check on insertion and compares the cell's open-circuit voltage against an expected threshold. A new cell that hasn't been charged inside the camera or OEM charger can register as flat even when it isn't. Insert the battery, connect the camera to charge, and let it complete one full charge cycle inside the body — the camera will accept the cell and clear the indicator.

The shot count on my F7 is noticeably lower than I expected from a 700mAh cell — is something wrong?

Shot count figures assume flash off, no continuous AF, and minimal LCD use. On the DMC-F7, flash recycling, sustained autofocus, and the LCD backlight all draw current simultaneously, which adds up fast on a 700mAh cell. Nothing is wrong with the battery. Switching flash to auto-only mode and reducing LCD brightness cuts the combined draw significantly and brings shot count closer to rated figures.

The F7 body feels warm during video recording and the battery drains faster than during stills — is that normal?

Yes. Sustained video on the DMC-F7 runs the image sensor, JPEG processor, and LCD simultaneously at continuous load — that combined draw is substantially higher than the burst draw during stills capture, and the heat is a byproduct of that sustained current. The cell is working correctly. If the body gets hot enough to trigger a thermal warning, switch to shorter recording clips and allow 60 seconds between takes to let the sensor and processor cool before resuming.
