Fits Samsung Galaxy Core 2 SM-G3588 smartphones, replacing OEM battery EB-BG358BBC.
This 3.7V 2000mAh lithium-ion cell restores full power to the processor, display, and modem on aged devices.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot; ensure the gold contacts face the device terminals before closing the cover.
We charged this cell five times on a Samsung-compatible charger; the BMS accepted input voltage immediately with no fault cycles.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 SM-G3588 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB-BG358BBC)

This is a 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 smartphone. It fits the SM-G3588, SM-G3588V, SM-G3588D, and SM-G3556 among others. The OEM part numbers are EB-BG358BBC and EB-BG358BBE.

  • SM-G3588 series compatibility: These variants share the same 3.7V power rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — so one cell covers the full model range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an SM-G3588 unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without triggering a charge-suspend fault. Capacity held within 3% of rated across the first three cycles.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC pushes higher current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

The Galaxy Core 2's fuel gauge IC carries over the discharge curve calibrated to the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC wasn't expecting, it interprets a sharp voltage drop as empty and cuts power — even though capacity remains. The modem and display load together can cause a short current spike that drops cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold at that miscalibrated point. Run one full discharge to below 5% and charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter resets and the shutdowns stop.

Phone not powering on after the battery sat discharged in storage

Li-ion cells that drop below approximately 2.5V trip the BMS into a lockout state — the protection circuit disconnects the cell to prevent damage, and the phone sees no voltage at all. A standard charger may not deliver enough trickle current to wake the cell from lockout. Connect the phone to a wall adapter — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. If the charging LED activates, the BMS has re-initialised; allow a full charge before booting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Galaxy Core 2 shut off suddenly at around 25% after I put in the new battery?

The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve and misreads the voltage drop under modem and screen load as a dead battery. The new cell can sustain voltage fine, but the coulomb counter doesn't know that yet. Run one uninterrupted full discharge down to under 5%, then charge straight to 100%. After that single cycle the percentage readings and shutdowns stabilise.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery was left uncharged for a few weeks — what happened?

Cells stored uncharged can drop below 2.5V, which trips the BMS protection circuit into a hard lockout. The phone gets no voltage and won't respond to a short press of the power button. Plug into a wall adapter — not a laptop port — and leave it completely alone for at least 20 minutes. If the charging indicator light comes on, the BMS has recovered; charge fully before first boot.

Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the new battery — it only trickle charges now

On the first cycle with a new cell, the Galaxy Core 2's charge IC runs a verification pass before enabling higher charge current. If the fuel gauge IC has not completed one full calibration cycle, the charge controller defaults to a conservative current limit as a safety measure. Complete one full discharge and uninterrupted charge to 100% without fast charging enabled. After that cycle, re-enable fast charging — the IC will accept the higher current rate once the cell's impedance profile is recorded.
