Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Schenker XMG Core 15 — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SQU-1609)
This is an 11.4V, 7100mAh (80.94Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Schenker XMG Core 15 and XMG Core 15 GK5CP6V laptops. It replaces OEM part SQU-1609 when the original cell degrades or fails to hold charge under load. Voltage, connector, and BMS communication lines match the factory spec for these models.
- XMG Core 15 and GK5CP6V compatibility: Both the XMG Core 15 and GK5CP6V share the same 11.4V three-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One replacement covers both configurations — no adapter or firmware change needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the XMG Core 15 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly with the EC firmware, reported accurate state-of-charge, and held voltage steady through CPU and GPU combined load spikes.
- First-cycle calibration on XMG Core 15: After installing, run one full discharge down to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap — it is not a fault.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the SQU-1609
The XMG Core 15 BIOS reads health data from an EEPROM register that the old cell wrote during its lifetime. A fresh cell arrives with different EEPROM values, so the BIOS flags it as degraded even though the capacity is full. This is a data mismatch, not a hardware fault. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge allows the EC to rewrite those registers against the new cell. After that cycle, health status returns to normal.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on new battery
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The new Li-Polymer cell has a steeper voltage cliff in the lower charge range, so the OS reads 25% when the cell is already near its cutoff threshold. The system shuts down to protect the cell before the gauge catches up. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles without interrupting charge, and the fuel gauge IC will remap its curve to the new cell's actual discharge profile. If it persists after two cycles, check that BIOS charge control is not set to a custom lower cutoff — reset it to 100% in the BIOS power settings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Windows show the SQU-1609 replacement as "0% available (plugged in)" right after fitting it?
The fuel gauge IC in the XMG Core 15 lost its reference data when the old cell was removed. The new cell's state-of-charge is unreadable until the IC completes at least one calibration cycle. Plug in the charger, let it charge uninterrupted to 100%, then discharge fully to hibernate — Windows will read accurate percentage after that first complete cycle.
The XMG Core 15 BIOS shows the replacement battery's Wh rating as lower than the 80.94Wh listed — is the cell wrong?
The BIOS pulls the Wh figure from an EEPROM field that the original factory cell wrote at manufacture. A replacement cell ships with a rated chemistry value in that register, which may differ from the calculated 80.94Wh figure until the learn cycle rewrites it. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then a full charge to 100%, and the EC will update the EEPROM with the measured value from the new cell. The physical capacity of the cell has not changed.
Charging stops at 80% on the XMG Core 15 after fitting the new battery — charger stays connected but percentage won't climb higher.
The XMG Core 15 BIOS includes a charge-limit feature that caps charging at 80% when activated — this is a firmware control, not a battery fault. Open the BIOS, navigate to the Battery Charging section, and verify the charge limit is set to 100% rather than the conservation mode preset. Save and reboot — charging will proceed to full capacity on the next cycle.
