Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony CyberShot DSC-S750 / DSC-S980 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NP-BK1)
This is a 3.7V, 770mAh (2.85Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Sony CyberShot compact camera range. It fits the DSC-S750, DSC-S780, DSC-S950, DSC-S980, and 38 additional models sharing the NP-BK1 and NP-FK1 specification. The cell matches Sony's original voltage rail and connector pinout for this series.
- NP-BK1 / NP-FK1 platform compatibility: These models share the same battery bay geometry, 3.7V nominal voltage rail, and BMS communication protocol. A single cell design covers the full S-series compact lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on DSC-S series bodies. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags after one full charge cycle completed inside the camera body.
- First-use charge cycle: Insert the battery and charge it fully inside the camera body or the OEM Sony charger before shooting. Some S-series bodies need a complete in-body charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining indicator against the new cell's discharge curve.
Flash recycling slowing down mid-shoot on the DSC-S750
The DSC-S750's onboard flash capacitor draws a sharp recharge current burst after each shot. As a Li-ion cell ages or sits at a lower state of charge, internal resistance rises and that recharge current sags. The camera body interprets slow capacitor refill as low power and may lock the shutter until recycling completes. If flash lag is increasing, check cell voltage under load — anything below 3.5V at rest indicates the cell needs replacement.
Battery percentage jumping or dropping suddenly on the display
The S-series battery indicator maps voltage thresholds to percentage steps, not a true fuel-gauge IC. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the original Sony cell, so the indicator can skip steps or drop several bars at once. This is a calibration mismatch, not a faulty battery. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles inside the camera body and the indicator will stabilise against the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DSC-S750 shows a dead battery icon immediately after inserting a fully charged replacement — what's wrong?
The S-series BMS runs an authentication handshake on first install. If the cell hasn't completed a full charge cycle inside the camera body or OEM charger, the body may read it as flat or incompatible. Insert the battery, connect the camera to charge via USB or the Sony charger, and let it run to 100% without interruption. After that first complete cycle, the body will recognise the cell correctly.
The battery percentage on my DSC-S780 drops from 50% to empty in a few frames — is the cell faulty?
Not necessarily. The S-series indicator uses fixed voltage thresholds rather than a fuel gauge. A new Li-ion cell's discharge curve doesn't match the thresholds mapped to the original Sony cell, so the display can skip bars or collapse suddenly. Run the cell through two full charge and discharge cycles inside the camera body. The threshold mapping will align and the readout will track more accurately.
Why does my DSC-S950 get noticeably warm during extended video recording even with a new battery?
During continuous video, the DSC-S950 draws current simultaneously from the image sensor, processor, and display — all from a 770mAh cell. That sustained combined draw raises both the cell temperature and the body temperature faster than still shooting does. It's normal up to a point, but if the body shuts down mid-clip, the thermal protection circuit has tripped. Break recordings into shorter clips and allow 60–90 seconds between takes to let the cell voltage recover above 3.6V before the next clip starts.
