Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Spare ContourHD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V 1050mAh lithium-ion battery for the ContourHD action camera. It fits the compact ContourHD wearable body and slots directly into the original battery bay. Use it to extend a recording session or replace a cell that no longer holds a full charge.
- ContourHD platform fit: The ContourHD uses a slim single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint — 52.92 × 33.78 × 5.48mm — so the door closes flush and the contacts seat correctly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a ContourHD body. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and voltage under recording load held within the expected range for a 1050mAh cell at this chemistry.
- First-cycle calibration on the ContourHD: Run the first full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before recording. The ContourHD's battery-remaining indicator maps to the cell's discharge curve — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read inaccurately from the first use.
Why the ContourHD battery indicator jumps erratically after fitting a new cell
The ContourHD estimates remaining charge by reading voltage thresholds across the discharge curve. A new replacement cell has a slightly different discharge curve shape than a worn original — particularly in the mid-range. The camera's fuel gauge maps those voltage points to percentage segments, so a fresh cell can read 80%, drop to 60%, then hold there for an extended period. Running one complete charge-to-full cycle, then discharging to automatic shutoff, lets the camera recalibrate its threshold mapping to the new cell.
ContourHD cuts off recording before the battery indicator reaches empty
The ContourHD draws a sustained load during HD video encoding — sensor, processor, and write buffer all pull simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold under that combined load, the camera shuts down even though the indicator still shows remaining charge. This typically happens when a cell has aged or when a replacement cell is cold. Warm the camera body to ambient temperature before a long recording session, and confirm the cell is charged to at least 4.1V before starting.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ContourHD shows the battery icon but shuts off seconds after I start recording — what's happening?
The camera's BMS is triggering a low-voltage cutoff under the combined load of the sensor, encoder, and write buffer — even if the indicator looked fine at rest. A resting cell reads higher voltage than one under sustained recording draw, so the shutoff happens faster than the indicator suggests. Charge the battery fully — target 4.2V at end of charge — and let the camera reach room temperature before recording. If it still cuts out, the cell may need a full calibration cycle: charge to full, record to automatic shutoff, then recharge.
The ContourHD battery percentage jumps from 70% straight to 20% with no warning — is the replacement cell faulty?
This is a calibration mismatch, not a faulty cell. The ContourHD maps fixed voltage thresholds to percentage segments, and a new cell's discharge curve sits slightly differently than the worn original it replaced. The indicator reads accurately at the top and bottom of the range but skips through the middle. Run one full cycle — charge completely, then let the camera record until it shuts off automatically — and the percentage display will track more consistently from the second cycle onward.
The ContourHD drains noticeably faster in cold weather — is that a cell defect?
Cold temperatures increase internal resistance in lithium-ion cells, which reduces available capacity and steepens voltage sag under load. At temperatures below 10°C, a 1050mAh cell can deliver meaningfully less usable capacity before hitting the BMS cutoff — this applies to the original cell too, not just a replacement. Keep the camera inside a jacket pocket between shots to maintain cell temperature. If you're shooting in sustained cold, budget for shorter clips and recharge more frequently rather than running the cell to cutoff.
