Fits Uniden Atlantis 270 handheld radio; replaces OEM BBTG092001 and BT-1035 battery packs.
7.4V lithium-polymer cell at 1100mAh delivers full TX and RX runtime on the Atlantis 270 portable transceiver platform.
Connector seats vertically into radio slot with single locking tab; gold contacts align flush when fully inserted.
Bench testing showed clean voltage rise on first charge cycle; BMS accepted dock handshake without fault light on insertion.
On first use, if charger dock shows fault LED, remove battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Atlantis 270 platform requires contact confirmation before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Uniden Atlantis 270 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BBTG092001)

This 7.4V, 1100mAh lithium-polymer pack replaces the original BBTG092001 battery in the Uniden Atlantis 270 handheld marine and land-based transceiver. It uses the same cell format and BMS profile as the factory pack, so the charger dock and bar indicator behave as expected from the first charge cycle.

  • Atlantis 270 fit: The Atlantis 270 uses a compact Li-Polymer cell format with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake tied to the BBTG092001 part profile. A pack with the wrong BMS voltage thresholds will either refuse to charge in the dock or show incorrect bar readings — this replacement matches those thresholds directly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance, PTT transmit-current draw, and BMS cutoff verification. The BMS held its overcurrent threshold correctly under simulated transmit spikes and returned to normal standby draw without tripping into lockout.
  • First insertion on the Atlantis dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack and wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The Atlantis charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it begins charging.

Why the Atlantis 270 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

Transmitting draws significantly more current than standby — on the Atlantis 270, a sustained PTT press pulls enough current to trigger the BMS overcurrent cutoff if the cell voltage is still at storage level. A new Li-Polymer pack ships at roughly 3.7V per cell, not full charge. At that voltage, the BMS has a tighter overcurrent margin. A single full charge cycle before the first transmission run resolves this — the BMS cutoff threshold widens once the cells are above 4.0V per cell.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after charging

The Atlantis 270 reads battery state through simple voltage-threshold steps, not a fuel gauge chip. If the dock cycles to green but the radio shows one bar fewer than expected, the cell is likely sitting at 4.15V rather than the full 4.20V per cell — a normal variance in dock cutoff timing. Remove the pack, reinsert it into the dock, and run a second top-up charge. The indicator will align once the cell reaches the 4.20V threshold the radio's voltage comparator expects.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Atlantis 270 dock flashes a fault LED and never starts charging — is the new pack dead?

The fault LED on the Atlantis dock fires when the BMS handshake doesn't complete on insertion, not necessarily because the pack is faulty. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip on the pack with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly. If the dock still won't accept the pack, the cell voltage may have dropped below the dock's acceptance threshold during shipping — place the pack in the radio itself and press PTT briefly to wake the BMS, then return it to the dock.

The radio drops to noticeably lower transmit power partway through a long shift — what's happening?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output. The Atlantis 270 reduces TX power when the battery voltage drops below a set threshold during a long transmission sequence. It's not a fault — it's the radio protecting the final RF stage. A Li-Polymer pack at the end of its charge will sag faster under repeated PTT presses than a freshly charged one. Charge the pack fully before a long shift and the voltage will hold above the TX reduction threshold for longer.

The Atlantis 270 won't power on after the battery sat unused in a drawer for several months — is the pack recoverable?

Extended storage at low charge causes Li-Polymer cells to self-discharge below the BMS re-initialisation threshold — typically under 2.5V per cell — and the BMS locks out to prevent damage. Place the pack in the Atlantis dock and leave it for at least 90 minutes without interruption; many docks apply a low-current recovery charge before the main charge cycle begins. If the dock accepts the pack and shows a charging indicator, the BMS has re-initialised — let the full cycle complete before powering on the radio.
