Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Mi 5c — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BN20)
The BN20 is a 3.85V Li-Polymer cell rated at 2850mAh (10.97Wh), made to fit the Xiaomi Mi 5c and Mi 5c Dual SIM TD-LTE. It restores power to a phone that drains too fast, won't hold charge, or won't turn on. Install it when the original cell has degraded past the point of normal daily use.
- Mi 5c and Meri compatibility: All three listed variants — Mi 5c, Mi 5c Dual SIM TD-LTE, and Meri — use the same BN20 footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. The voltage rail and NTC thermistor wiring are shared across the range, so one cell fits all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Mi 5c unit. The BMS accepted charge handshake without fault. Voltage held steady above 3.6V through normal load draws including screen-on and cellular activity.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic power-off, then charge to 100% on standard current. This lets the phone's fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter to the new cell's actual discharge curve before fast charge current is applied to an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Mi 5c after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running a lookup table calibrated to the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under modem and display load than the IC expects at that state of charge. The phone interprets the voltage sag as an empty cell and cuts power. One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and eliminates the false cutoff. After that cycle, shutdowns below 20% should stop.
Phone won't power on after the BN20 sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If the BN20 dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS will have entered lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone will show no response to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall adapter, not a USB port, and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC needs enough current to bring the cell above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 3.0V, before the power rail re-enables. Once the screen shows a charging indicator, normal startup will proceed.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Mi 5c percentage jumps from 35% to 5% and then the phone shuts off — is the new BN20 faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Mi 5c stores a discharge curve built from the old cell's behaviour, and the new BN20 has a different impedance profile. The IC loses track of real state of charge under load, which causes the percentage to jump and triggers a low-voltage cutoff. Run one complete discharge to automatic power-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell and the jumping stops.
Fast charging stopped working on the Mi 5c after fitting the replacement battery — the phone only charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the Mi 5c's charge controller is cautious with a new, uncalibrated cell and may default to standard current rather than accepting the fast charge handshake. This is normal behaviour. Complete one full charge at the slow rate, then disconnect and allow the phone to discharge normally to around 10–15% before charging again — on the second cycle, fast charging typically re-engages. If it doesn't, check that the charger outputs at least 9V and that the USB cable is rated for data, not charge-only.
The Mi 5c feels noticeably warm near the battery while charging the new BN20 — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth is expected on the first few charge cycles with a fresh Li-Polymer cell. A new cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates a little more energy as heat at the start. If the phone stays warm to the touch but not hot enough to be uncomfortable, it will normalise within two or three cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the back becomes too hot to hold, disconnect immediately and check that the charger voltage matches the Mi 5c spec of 5V or 9V — overvoltage from an incompatible adapter is the more likely cause of excessive heat.
