Fits Yaesu VX-350, VX-351, VX-354 and replaces FNB-V95Li, FNB-V96Li, FNB-V96LiA battery packs.
7.4V, 2600mAh lithium-ion delivers stable voltage under sustained RF transmission without sag.
Slide connector with vertical locking tab seats flush into VX-350 radio body without rocking.
We bench-tested this cell on a VX-351 transceiver — BMS accepted dock voltage handshake immediately, bar indicator showed full charge after one cycle.
On first insertion, if the charger dock shows a fault light, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip on the pack with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Yaesu platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yaesu VX-350 / VX-354 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FNB-V95Li)

This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh lithium-ion battery pack for the Yaesu VX-350, VX-351, and VX-354 handheld transceivers. It replaces OEM part numbers FNB-V95Li, FNB-V96Li, and FNB-V96LiA. The pack seats into the same battery bay and connects through the same contact strip as the original.

  • VX-350 series fitment: The VX-350, VX-351, and VX-354 share the same battery bay geometry, contact pin layout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a VX-351 and cycled through full transmit loads. The BMS held voltage above the radio's low-battery threshold across sustained PTT bursts and cleared without a lockout event.
  • First insertion into the charger dock: If the dock LED blinks fault on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The VX-350 platform requires a clean contact cycle before the dock accepts the new BMS and begins the charge sequence.

Why the VX-350 drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a new pack

New li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, which puts this pack around 7.2V total. Under the current draw of a sustained PTT burst, voltage sags further. The VX-350's RF stage detects that sag and steps down transmit power automatically to protect the finals. This is not a faulty battery — it is the radio responding to a cell that has not yet been fully charged. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before the first field use.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack

The VX-350 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, not a fuel gauge chip. At storage voltage, the pack reads one tier lower than a fully charged cell would. After a complete charge cycle to 8.4V, the indicator steps up to reflect actual cell state. If the bar count stays low after a full charge, check that the contact pins on the radio body are clean and making full contact with the pack's gold strip.

Frequently Asked Questions

The VX-351 cuts out completely when I press PTT — is the new battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a defective pack. The transmit current spike when PTT is pressed can exceed the BMS's trip threshold if the cells are still at storage voltage. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before use — a partially charged cell has higher internal impedance, which amplifies the voltage sag and can trigger the cutoff. After a full charge cycle, the trip threshold clears and the radio transmits normally.

The charger dock blink-fault LED never clears — it just keeps flashing after I insert the new pack.

A pack that has been in storage for several weeks can sit below the dock's acceptance voltage floor, typically around 6.0V. The dock sees the voltage as out of range and refuses to begin the charge sequence. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, reseat it firmly, and hold it seated for ten seconds — a clean contact cycle often lets the dock re-read the BMS and accept the pack. If the fault LED persists, the pack needs a pre-charge boost; insert and remove three times in quick succession to prompt the dock's recovery mode on some Yaesu charger models.

After weeks of sitting unused, the VX-354 won't power on even with this new battery installed.

Extended storage at low state of charge can push li-ion cells below the BMS recovery threshold — around 5.5V per pack — and the BMS locks out to prevent damage. Place the pack in the charger dock and leave it undisturbed for at least two hours; most Yaesu-compatible docks apply a low-current trickle that walks the cell voltage back up to recovery range before switching to full charge. Once the dock LED shifts from fault to charging, let it run to a full green before reinserting into the radio.
