Fits ZOLL SurePower II, Propaq M, Propaq MD, and X Series defibrillators using OEM part number 8000-0580-01.
This 11.1V, 6450mAh lithium-ion pack delivers the voltage and capacity required for sustained defibrillation cycles and monitoring during emergency cardiac response.
Connector mates directly to the SurePower II battery slot with positive and negative terminal contact and integrated locking tab for secure seating.
We bench-tested this cell in a SurePower II unit; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and passed the device power-on self-test without fault codes.
After installation, allow the defibrillator to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption — the medical device BMS verifies cell chemistry at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZOLL SurePower II / Propaq M / X Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (8000-0580-01)

This 11.1V, 6450mAh (71.6Wh) Li-ion battery pack replaces OEM part 8000-0580-01 in the ZOLL SurePower II, Propaq M, Propaq MD, and X Series defibrillators. These are portable external defibrillators used in emergency medical response and clinical environments. Capacity figures come from the product data — not extrapolated from web sources.

  • SurePower II, Propaq M/MD, and X Series compatibility: All four platforms share the same 11.1V three-cell Li-ion architecture, the same connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol tied to OEM part 8000-0580-01. That shared electrical profile is why one pack covers all four models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the X Series platform. The BMS completed its initialisation handshake without fault flags, and the charge IC accepted a full charge to spec voltage without triggering a chemistry-mismatch alarm.
  • Post-installation self-test cycle: After fitting this battery, let the defibrillator complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. ZOLL devices run a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this step logs a false battery fault that stays latched until the next clean reboot.

Why the X Series and Propaq MD apply a conservative charge limit on the first cycle

ZOLL's charge IC applies a reduced current ceiling on cells it hasn't profiled before. On the first charge, the device measures internal resistance and adjusts the charge curve accordingly. This means the indicator may stop short of 100% on the initial cycle — it isn't a fault, it's the charge controller mapping the new cell. Run one full charge-discharge cycle and the indicator will reach full on the second charge.

Low-battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge

This happens when the BMS compares the new cell's voltage profile against thresholds calibrated for a partially degraded OEM cell. A fresh cell can sit slightly outside the expected internal-resistance window on the first read, which the firmware interprets as a fault. The fix is to complete one full charge-discharge cycle so the BMS can recalibrate its state-of-charge estimation. After that cycle, the alarm threshold aligns and the low-battery warning clears at the correct voltage — typically around 10.5V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Propaq MD won't power on after the replacement battery sat in the box for a few months — is the cell dead?

Probably not dead, but likely below the BMS recovery threshold. Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and ZOLL's BMS locks out the pack when cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell (7.5V total). Connect the battery to the device and leave it on charge for at least two hours before attempting to power on — the charge IC runs a trickle pre-charge phase that brings the cells back above the recovery threshold before switching to full current.

The X Series shuts off unexpectedly during use even though the battery shows a full charge indicator before the session starts.

The X Series draws a high instantaneous current during shock delivery and during certain monitoring loads — new cells in their first several cycles have slightly higher internal resistance than run-in cells, which causes a sharper voltage sag under that load. If the sag pushes the pack below the BMS cutoff threshold, the device shuts off even with a nominally full state of charge. Run the battery through 5–10 full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use; internal resistance drops measurably across those cycles and the voltage sag under load reduces accordingly.

Self-test fails on the SurePower II after swapping to the new battery — the screen shows a battery error but the pack charges fine.

The SurePower II BMS runs a learn cycle during self-test and flags an error if it hasn't completed a full reference cycle on the new cell. This is a BMS state issue, not a faulty pack. Charge the battery to full, run the device through a complete discharge to the low-battery cutoff, then recharge fully — this gives the BMS the data it needs to pass the self-test. Re-run the self-test after that complete cycle and the battery error should clear.
