Fits Indexa RZ03 automatic door opener; replaces OEM part number AKKU-RZ03A.
12V 700mAh Ni-MH pack delivers 8.4Wh — sufficient capacity for full door cycle completion during mains failure on standard commercial installations.
Connector clips onto control board with positive and negative terminals; locking tab seats flush against the housing frame.
We bench-tested this cell on an RZ03 controller under simulated power-loss conditions; BMS accepts charge without fault codes and holds voltage through a complete open-close cycle.
After installation, manually trigger a power-fail test during low-traffic hours — backup batteries on door controllers must verify they complete a full cycle under load before relying on them during an actual outage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Indexa RZ03 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (AKKU-RZ03A)

This is a 12V 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Indexa RZ03 automatic door opener. It slots into the door controller and provides backup power to the control system when mains supply is interrupted. Without a functional backup battery, the automatic door mechanism loses power and the controller may lose its programmed settings.

  • RZ03 controller fit: The RZ03 backup circuit runs on a dedicated 12V Ni-MH rail. This battery matches that rail and connects through the OEM-spec connector, so the BMS handshake completes and the controller accepts it as a valid power source.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through a simulated mains-failure cutover on the RZ03 controller. The BMS handed over cleanly, the door completed a full open-and-close cycle, and the controller retained its programmed settings throughout.
  • Post-install load test: After installing the backup battery, manually trigger a power-fail test during a low-traffic period. The RZ03 backup battery must be tested under actual load at installation — a full door cycle draw is the only way to confirm the battery is functional before you need it.

Door controller losing stored programming after a power outage

The RZ03 stores its door timing, force, and access settings in volatile RAM. That RAM is held by the backup battery when mains power drops. A depleted or failed backup battery cannot sustain the RAM, so all programmed parameters reset to factory defaults the moment mains power is lost. After swapping the battery, allow a full 24-hour charge before the next expected power interruption to ensure the battery can sustain the RAM under real outage conditions.

Automatic door not completing the full open cycle on battery backup

If the door stalls or reverses mid-cycle during a mains failure, the backup battery is likely voltage-sagging under motor-start load. Ni-MH cells at partial charge drop sharply when the door motor draws its startup current, which triggers the BMS low-voltage cutoff before the cycle finishes. A fully charged battery should hold above 10.8V through the motor-start surge on the RZ03. Charge the replacement for 24 hours before testing, then verify the door completes a full unassisted cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The RZ03 door resets all its settings every time the power goes out — why?

The controller stores its programming in volatile RAM, and that RAM is kept alive by the backup battery during a power cut. If the backup battery is depleted or dead, the RAM loses power the moment mains drops and all settings clear. Replace the AKKU-RZ03A battery, charge it for 24 hours, then reprogram the door parameters and run a manual power-fail test to confirm the settings hold.

The automatic door moves noticeably slower during a power outage than it does on mains — is something wrong?

This is normal RZ03 behaviour. The controller reduces motor speed on battery backup to limit current draw and protect the battery from premature cutoff during a mains-failure cycle. If the door still completes a full open-and-close cycle without stalling, the battery is working as intended. If the door stalls or reverses before completing the cycle, the battery is voltage-sagging under load and needs replacement.

The backup battery charges for days but still doesn't activate when I cut mains power to the RZ03 — what's wrong?

A Ni-MH cell that has been deeply discharged can show a surface charge without holding enough capacity to activate the backup circuit under load. The RZ03 backup activation threshold requires the battery to sustain voltage above the controller's cutoff point at the moment of mains failure — a shallow or degraded charge won't cross that threshold. Replace the battery, charge it for a full 24 hours, then trigger a manual mains-fail test and confirm the controller switches to backup and the door cycles completely.
