Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Record STA15 / ATRE021 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (013.508.000E-C)
This is a 12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the Record STA15 and ATRE021 automatic door openers. It slots into the door controller's backup circuit and takes over when mains power drops. Capacity matches the original at 2000mAh (24Wh).
- STA15 and ATRE021 compatibility: Both models share the same 12V backup rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol — one battery covers both. The OEM part numbers 013.508.000E-C and 80100501 confirm fitment across that platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through a simulated mains-fail event on the STA15 controller. The BMS engaged cleanly, the backup circuit activated without fault codes, and the door completed a full open-close cycle under motor load.
- Post-install power-fail test: After fitting, trigger a manual mains-fail test during a quiet period. Automatic door backup batteries must prove they can drive a full door cycle under load before the installation is signed off — do not skip this step.
Door controller losing saved programming after a power outage
The STA15 stores its opening parameters — travel limits, obstacle sensitivity, hold-open timers — in volatile RAM. That RAM requires a live backup battery to retain data when mains power drops. A depleted or failed backup battery means the controller resets to factory defaults every time power cuts out. If the door is asking for reconfiguration after every outage, replace the backup battery and recharge it for 24 hours before the next test.
Backup circuit not activating during mains failure
If the door goes completely dead on a mains failure instead of switching to battery backup, the controller's transfer relay is likely not seeing sufficient voltage from the backup battery to trigger. Ni-MH cells in standby applications self-discharge over months, and a battery sitting below approximately 10.5V will not satisfy the relay's activation threshold. Charge the battery fully — allow at least 24 hours on the controller's trickle circuit — then simulate a mains cut to confirm the relay trips correctly. If voltage still reads below 11V after a full charge cycle, the cells have degraded and the battery needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions
The STA15 door stops halfway through its open cycle when it switches to battery backup — what's causing that?
A partially discharged Ni-MH battery loses voltage under the motor's start-up draw, and the BMS trips the output before the door completes its travel. The controller interprets the voltage sag as an obstacle and halts. Charge the battery for a full 24 hours before testing, then manually trigger a mains-fail event and watch whether the door completes the full cycle. If it still stops short after a full charge, the cells can no longer hold adequate voltage under load and the battery needs to be replaced.
The STA15 controller resets all its settings every time the power goes out — door limits, timers, everything gone. What's happening?
The controller holds those parameters in volatile RAM, which needs the backup battery to stay alive during a mains outage. When the backup battery is flat or dead, RAM loses power instantly at mains failure and the controller boots to factory defaults. Fit a fresh battery, let it charge for 24 hours on the controller's trickle circuit, then cut mains briefly and confirm settings survive. A battery showing below 11V after a full charge cycle is no longer serviceable.
The door moves noticeably slower than usual when running on battery backup — is something wrong?
This is intentional controller behaviour on the STA15. When the unit detects a mains-fail condition and switches to battery, it reduces motor drive speed to lower current draw and extend the number of cycles the backup battery can complete. It is not a fault with the battery or the motor. If the movement is so slow the door fails to fully open or close before the controller times out, the battery is undercharged — charge it for 24 hours and retest. Full-speed operation only returns once mains power is restored.
