Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V-Tech RM5754HD / HD Smart Wifi Video Monitor — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP1763)

This is a 3.8V, 2100mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the V-Tech HD Smart Wifi Video Monitor parent unit. It fits the RM5754 and RM5754HD models, along with the 5" Digital Video Baby Monitor and eight additional V-Tech variants that share the BP1763 cell format. Swap it when the original battery no longer holds a charge or powers the parent unit through a full night.

  • RM5754 / RM5754HD parent unit fit: These models share the same 3.8V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. The BP1763 cell format slots into all of them without modification to the charging circuit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the parent unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake correctly, and the unit powered the 5" display, Wi-Fi link, and IR night vision at normal operating voltage without tripping any protection cutoff.
  • First charge after installation: Plug the parent unit into the cradle and charge it to full before placing it in use. The BP1763 ships in a partial state — the parent unit's BMS calibrates its charge gauge on the first full cycle, so a short first charge will give inaccurate battery level readings on screen.

Parent unit not connecting to camera unit after battery swap

When the parent unit loses power completely during a battery swap, it drops its stored wireless pairing data. This is normal behaviour — the unit doesn't retain the camera link without continuous power. After fitting the new battery and charging, press and hold the pairing button on the camera unit until the parent unit rediscovers it. The link restores in under 60 seconds on a fully charged cell.

Battery level indicator showing full but parent unit shutting off early

This happens when the BMS charge gauge wasn't calibrated on the first cycle. The parent unit reads a surface voltage after a partial charge and reports 100%, but the cell isn't actually full. Run one complete charge from flat to full without interrupting it. After that first full cycle, the gauge tracks accurately and the unit holds charge as expected.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V-Tech RM5754HD parent unit night vision stopped working after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The IR LEDs that power night vision draw more current than the screen alone, and they need the cell at or near full voltage to fire correctly. A partially charged BP1763 can run the display fine but still cut the IR circuit. Put the parent unit on charge for a full cycle, then test night vision in a dark room — it should activate normally once the cell reaches its rated 3.8V operating level.

The range on my V-Tech monitor dropped noticeably after swapping to this battery — is something wrong with the cell?

Wi-Fi and FHSS radio output on the RM5754 series is voltage-sensitive — a cell that hasn't completed its first full charge delivers slightly lower voltage, and the radio backs off its transmit power as a result. This isn't a faulty battery. Charge the parent unit fully before use, and range returns to normal. If range is still short after a full charge, check for interference sources between the parent and camera units.

The parent unit battery is draining completely overnight even with the screen off — what's causing it?

With the screen off, the parent unit still runs its Wi-Fi link, audio monitoring circuit, and temperature sensor continuously. That sustained background draw on a single 2100mAh cell is significant over 8–10 hours. Enable the screen timeout in the monitor's settings if it isn't already active, and make sure the unit is on its charging cradle during overnight use rather than running on battery alone.
