Fits Honeywell 99EXhc, 99GX, Dolphin 99EX mobile computers; replaces OEM 99EX-BTEC-1 and 99EX-BTES-1 battery packs.
This 3.7V, 5200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 19.24Wh — enough to sustain full-shift scanning and wireless polling in pick-and-pack operations without midday swaps.
Connector slides straight into the battery door slot with a mechanical locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion on the dock contact plate.
We bench-tested this pack in a 99EXhc scan cradle through 40 consecutive rapid-fire barcode reads and wireless transmission cycles; BMS held steady at 3.6V nominal under combined trigger and radio draw.
On first install, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell sits near minimum, and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS cutoffs during the opening shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell Dolphin 99EX / 99GX — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (99EX-BTEC-1)

This is a 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Honeywell Dolphin 99EX, 99EXhc, and 99GX mobile computers. It replaces OEM part numbers 99EX-BTEC-1 and 99EX-BTES-1. These scanners run in warehouse and logistics environments where battery drain is constant and shift continuity matters.

  • 99EX, 99EXhc, and 99GX compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V rail, and BMS handshake protocol. The connector and cell format are identical across the series, so one pack covers the full line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack in a Dolphin 99EX under active scan and wireless polling load. The BMS held stable through repeated scan-trigger inrush cycles and did not trip under combined Wi-Fi and imager draw.
  • First-shift cradle protocol: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before deploying it. Scan-trigger inrush current spikes highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first pick-and-pack shift.

Cradle showing a charging error after fitting a new pack

Charging errors on the dock after a battery swap are almost always a contact resistance issue, not a faulty cell. The 99EX cradle reads pack state through the battery contacts, and any oxidation or debris on the gold pads breaks that circuit. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle pins with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds, the contacts were the cause — not the pack.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The 99EX pulls current from two sources at once during a fast scan burst — the imager and the Wi-Fi radio both draw simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags below roughly 3.4V under that combined load, the radio resets to protect the imager circuit. This appears as a dropped connection or a network timeout mid-scan, not a scanner freeze. Charge the pack fully before a high-volume shift and monitor whether dropouts cluster at the end of the shift, which confirms voltage sag rather than a network fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

The scanner reads fine in the morning but starts missing barcodes halfway through the shift — why?

This is voltage sag under sustained load. As the cell depletes, imager power drops below the threshold needed for clean reads on damaged or low-contrast labels. It is not a scan engine fault — it is the cell struggling to hold voltage under the combined draw of the imager and wireless radio. Swap to a freshly charged pack and confirm the read rate recovers immediately.

The new battery fits but the scanner won't come on — it just shows a blinking LED and shuts off.

A new Li-ion pack that has sat in storage may have dropped below the BMS re-initialisation threshold, typically around 3.0V. The BMS locks the output to protect the cell, so the scanner gets no power. Place the battery in the cradle alone — without the scanner — for 15 to 20 minutes, then reseat it in the device. If the cradle accepts the charge and the LED turns solid, the BMS has recovered and the pack is functional.

The battery feels warm after a full warehouse shift — is that normal?

Sustained scanning plus continuous Wi-Fi polling in an enclosed housing generates consistent heat. Some warmth at end-of-shift is expected. The concern threshold is if the pack feels hot to the touch immediately after removal — that points to a failing cell with elevated internal resistance. Check the pack surface temperature against a recently charged spare after the same shift length. If the new pack runs noticeably hotter, stop using it and inspect the contacts for arcing marks.
