The displayed percentage is still tracking the old cell's voltage profile, so the reading diverges from actual state of charge under CPU and display load. When real cell voltage drops to the BMS cutoff threshold, the laptop shuts down even though the gauge still shows capacity remaining. Run two to three full discharge-and-recharge cycles and the fuel gauge IC will recalibrate its curve to the new cell — the cutoff point will align with 0% as expected.

Why does my FIC A3 show 0% or "unknown battery" in Windows right after fitting the new cell?

The Windows fuel gauge IC pulls state-of-charge data from EEPROM stored on the old cell. A freshly installed cell presents different data, so the OS can't map a percentage and reports 0% or unknown. This isn't a faulty cell — it's a calibration gap. Run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and Windows will re-anchor the fuel gauge to the new cell's actual capacity curve.

The system info panel shows the wrong Wh rating after I swapped the battery — is the cell mislabelled?

The Wh figure shown in system info is pulled from the EEPROM of the installed cell, which stores the rated capacity value written at manufacture. If it differs from the 65.12Wh spec, the BIOS learn cycle hasn't yet written updated data against actual measured capacity. After one full calibration cycle — full discharge to hibernate, then a complete uninterrupted charge — the system should reflect the correct Wh value. If it still reads incorrectly, check the BIOS battery settings menu for a stored "last known" value that may need clearing.

My A320 stops charging at around 80% and never reaches 100% — is this a cell defect?

On A-series notebooks, some BIOS versions include a charge limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during long periods on AC power. This is a firmware control, not a fault with the replacement cell. Open the BIOS setup menu (typically F2 at POST), navigate to the power or battery section, and check whether a charge threshold or battery health mode is enabled — disabling it will allow the cell to charge to 100%.
