Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y430 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (L08S6D01)
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Lenovo IdeaPad Y430 notebook. It fits the Y430, Y430g, Y430a, and Y430 2781 variants, among others. OEM part numbers covered include L08S6D01, L08O6D01, and L08O6D02.
- Y430 platform compatibility: All Y430 variants in this lineup share the same 11.1V three-cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The battery slots into any of these models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Y430 mainboard and confirmed the BMS communicates charge state correctly. The protection circuit trips as expected on undervoltage, and charge termination holds at the correct cutoff.
- Post-install calibration on the Y430: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The IdeaPad Y430 BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM, not from live cell measurements. When a new battery arrives, that EEPROM data reflects the factory-calibrated baseline, which the BIOS often misreads as degraded until a learn cycle runs. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS will update its health register and the warning clears.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated against the old, degraded cell rather than the new one. The gauge reports 20–30% remaining, but the new cell's voltage curve sits in a different place than the worn cell it replaced. Under full CPU and display load, the voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts, and the system cuts power before reaching zero. Two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles re-aligns the fuel gauge IC to the new cell's actual voltage profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Y430 shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and it stays there — what's wrong?
The fuel gauge IC lost its reference point when the old cell was removed and hasn't yet mapped the new cell's voltage curve. This reads as 0% or "unknown" in Windows until at least one full calibration cycle completes. Discharge the laptop normally until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interrupting the session. After that cycle, the gauge re-initialises and the OS reports a real percentage.
The Lenovo Energy Management software is showing a wildly different Wh rating than what the battery label says — is the cell wrong?
The Wh figure shown in Lenovo's software is pulled from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the rated value programmed at manufacture. If the EEPROM value and the physical label differ slightly, it's because rated chemistry capacity and the software-reported design capacity use different calculation baselines — not a cell mismatch. Check that voltage reads 11.1V in the system info; if it does, the correct cell is fitted. The Wh discrepancy has no effect on charge behaviour or discharge performance.
Charging stopped at 80% and won't go higher — is the replacement battery faulty?
This is almost always the BIOS charge threshold, not a battery fault. Lenovo's firmware on Y430-era machines includes a conservation mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress — it can be toggled on without the user knowing. Open Lenovo Energy Management or Lenovo Vantage (if installed), find the Battery Charge Threshold or Conservation Mode setting, and switch it off. Charging will resume to 100% on the next cycle.
