This 7.6V, 4700mAh (35.72Wh) lithium-polymer battery replaces the original AA-PLVN2TP pack in the Samsung Chromebook 2 13.3". It fits the XE503C32 and XE503C32-K01US models. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the Chromebook through normal use.

  • XE503C32 platform fit: The XE503C32 series shares a single battery bay format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across all sub-variants. This cell matches that electrical spec and physical footprint exactly — no adapter or wiring modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on the XE503C32 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack, allowed a full charge cycle, and reported state-of-charge without error flags on the first cycle.
  • Post-install calibration on ChromeOS: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge until the Chromebook hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the fuel gauge IC to map against the new cell and clears the inaccurate battery health warning ChromeOS flags after every cell swap.

ChromeOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

ChromeOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM, which still holds degraded capacity figures written by the old cell. The new pack physically works, but the firmware hasn't updated its baseline yet. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the battery learn cycle and rewrites the EEPROM reference point. After that cycle, the health indicator should clear and report accurately.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge mis-maps the voltage cliff — the point where cell voltage drops sharply under CPU and display load — and the system cuts power before the actual reserve is depleted. It is not a faulty cell. Run two to three full discharge and charge cycles and the gauge will track the correct voltage floor. After calibration, shutdown should only occur below 5% indicated charge.

The system reads watt-hour data from the pack's EEPROM, which stores a rated figure based on the cell's chemistry specification — not a live measurement. The displayed Wh may differ slightly from the label on a fresh cell until the fuel gauge IC completes its first calibration cycle. Run one full discharge to hibernate and charge back to 100%, and the reported figure will align with actual capacity. The correct rated value for this pack is 35.72Wh.

The fuel gauge is jumping around — showing 60%, then 80%, then 45% within minutes. What's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC on the XE503C32 mainboard needs several charge and discharge cycles to learn the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. Until it does, the state-of-charge readings are estimates based on the old cell's profile and will be erratic. This is a calibration issue, not a fault with the replacement pack. Run three complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles and the gauge will stabilise.

ChromeOS keeps saying the battery needs service even though I just replaced it — how do I clear that warning?

ChromeOS flags this warning when the EEPROM data from the old, degraded cell is still being used as the health baseline. The new cell hasn't overwritten that reference point yet. Discharge the Chromebook fully until it enters hibernation, then plug in and let it charge to 100% without interruption — this runs the BIOS battery learn cycle and rewrites the baseline. If the warning persists after two full cycles, check that the connector is fully seated and the pack voltage reads at least 7.4V under no load.
