Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UBEE U10C022 / DVW3201 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 10.8V 2200mAh Li-ion backup battery for UBEE cable modems. It fits the U10C022, U10C017, and DVW3201 — modems commonly deployed by ISPs for residential broadband and VoIP service. When mains power drops, this battery keeps the modem running so internet and phone calls stay active.
- U10C022, U10C017, and DVW3201 compatibility: All three models share the same 10.8V three-cell battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — so one battery covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through the modem's charge controller and confirmed the BMS completed its initialisation handshake. The modem accepted the cell, cleared the battery-fault LED, and began the charge cycle normally.
- First-install charge cycle: After swapping the battery, leave the modem plugged into mains power for at least 4 hours before testing backup function. The modem's firmware will not commit the battery to active standby until it has completed one full supervised charge cycle — testing before that point will show a failure even if the battery is good.
Battery self-test failing immediately after swap
UBEE modems run an automatic battery self-test shortly after detecting a new cell. If the battery hasn't reached a full charge state, the firmware will log a test failure even if the cell is healthy. The self-test threshold on these models requires the pack to hold above 12.0V under light load — a freshly installed battery often sits below that until fully charged. Allow a full 4-hour charge on mains before the modem triggers its next scheduled test.
VoIP calls drop during outage but internet stays up
The DOCSIS data stack and the embedded MTA (Media Terminal Adapter) that handles VoIP draw different sustained loads. During a power outage, the MTA requires a higher and more stable current than the data path alone. If the backup battery is partially discharged or has degraded cells, voltage can sag enough to drop the MTA while the data connection holds. Check the battery's charge status in the modem's web interface — navigate to the battery or backup status page and confirm voltage is reading at or above 12.0V before relying on it for calls.

Frequently Asked Questions
The modem is showing a battery error light after I put the new battery in — did I get a bad one?
Most likely no. UBEE modems take up to 24 hours to fully accept a new cell through their firmware handshake — a battery fault indicator in the first few hours after installation is normal behaviour, not a sign of a defective battery. Leave the modem on mains power and don't interrupt the charge. If the error light is still showing after 24 hours with a full charge, check the modem's battery status page in the web interface and confirm voltage is reading above 10.8V.
The modem passed its battery test last week but now it's failing — the battery is only a few months old.
Shallow cycling is the most common cause of early capacity loss in cable modem backup batteries. If your mains power is stable and the battery rarely discharges below 90%, the cells can develop a partial-charge memory effect over time, which causes the BMS to report a lower usable capacity than the physical cell holds. A deliberate full discharge-and-recharge cycle — done by briefly disconnecting mains until the modem shuts down, then recharging fully — can recalibrate the BMS state-of-charge tracking. Run this once and recheck the self-test result.
Internet came back after a power cut but my phone line through the modem stayed dead the whole time — the battery looked fine beforehand.
The modem's VoIP MTA draws more sustained current than the data modem during backup operation. Under battery power, if the pack voltage sags — even briefly — the MTA resets while the DOCSIS data stack stays up, because the data stack tolerates a lower voltage floor. This is a known behaviour on the U10C022 and DVW3201 under partially degraded batteries. If the battery is new, confirm it completed a full 4-hour charge cycle before the outage occurred — the MTA is the first function the firmware drops if backup capacity isn't fully verified.
