Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MEGA Speed High Speed Video Camera — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 14.8V, 10400mAh (153.92Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original power pack for the MEGA Speed High Speed Video Camera. High-speed video capture puts sustained load on the cell — this replacement is rated to handle that draw without voltage sag killing a recording session mid-clip. Dimensions are 151.00 × 95.80 × 56.90 mm; confirm these against your current pack before ordering.

  • High-speed capture platforms: High-frame-rate recording pulls significantly more current than standard video — the sensor, image processor, and buffer are all active at once. This cell's 10400mAh capacity at 14.8V provides the headroom these platforms need to sustain burst capture without the BMS tripping on a momentary load spike.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under sustained high-draw loads and monitored BMS behaviour at both full charge and low-voltage thresholds. The protection circuit held cutoff at the expected floor without nuisance trips during peak current draw.
  • First-install charge cycle: Run one full charge cycle through the OEM charger before heavy shooting. Some camera BMS systems require an internal charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read inaccurately from the first use.

Why the camera kills power mid-clip during high-frame-rate recording

At high frame rates, the sensor readout, image buffer, and storage controller all draw current simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during this peak load, the camera shuts down to protect the circuit — even if the battery indicator showed charge remaining. A degraded original cell will sag earlier and harder than a fresh replacement. Swapping to a new cell with full-rated capacity restores the voltage floor that keeps the system stable under burst load.

Battery percentage jumping or stuck immediately after fitting the replacement

This happens because the camera's BMS maps voltage thresholds to percentage readouts using data from its previous cell — the discharge curve of a new cell doesn't match those stored reference points exactly. The indicator can read 100%, then drop sharply, or stall at a fixed number for an extended period. Perform one full charge-discharge cycle through the OEM charger to allow the BMS to remap its thresholds against the new cell's curve. After that cycle, percentage readings should track normally across the full discharge range.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MEGA Speed camera shuts off mid-recording but the battery still shows charge — what's happening?

High-frame-rate capture spikes current draw from the sensor, buffer, and processor all at once. If the cell voltage dips below the BMS cutoff during that spike, the camera cuts power regardless of what the indicator shows. This is a voltage-sag event, not a capacity failure — a fresh cell holds the voltage floor under load where a tired one drops through it. Check that the replacement cell is fully charged before a shoot, and confirm the OEM charger is completing the cycle to 14.8V.

The camera body says "no battery" or flashes an incompatible battery warning when I fit the replacement — is the cell faulty?

This is a BMS authentication handshake failure, not a defective cell. Some camera systems reject a new third-party cell on the first cold install because the stored authentication data doesn't match yet. Power the camera off completely, seat the battery firmly, then charge it once through the OEM charger from inside the camera body. That charge cycle is usually enough for the system to accept the cell and clear the warning on the next power-on.

Shot count is noticeably lower than expected even though the battery is new — what's drawing the extra current?

Rated capacity is measured under a steady, moderate discharge load — real-world high-speed video adds continuous processor load, active buffer writing, and sustained sensor readout on top of that baseline. Each of those subsystems draws current beyond what a standard shot-count estimate accounts for. There is no fault here; the cell is working correctly under a heavier combined load than the spec assumption. Reduce recording resolution or frame rate during non-critical takes to extend each charge between high-speed bursts.
