Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Alcatel Altiset Comfort / Altiset Pro Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (NTM/BKBNB 101 13/1)
This 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in the Alcatel Altiset Comfort, Altiset Pro, Altiset S, One Touch Class, and over 22 compatible Altiset-series cordless handsets. It restores wireless operation after the original cell degrades and can no longer hold adequate charge. Dimensions are 45.30 × 31.10 × 10.75mm — verify the battery compartment matches before fitting.
- Altiset-series handset compatibility: These models share a common battery footprint, cell voltage, and connector pinout across the Altiset line. The 3.6V rail matches what the base station's charging circuit expects — swap one incorrect voltage cell in and the base will refuse to charge it.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge cycle on an Altiset base unit and confirmed the charging circuit accepted the NiMH cells without error. The BMS protection tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold during a controlled discharge.
- First-charge conditioning for NiMH cordless packs: After fitting, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones require a slow initial charge to reach rated 600mAh capacity — pulling the handset off the base early cuts into the first several cycles.
Base station charging error on a freshly installed NiMH pack
NiMH cells that have sat in storage self-discharge over time, sometimes dropping well below 3.0V before they reach you. Many Altiset base stations will not initiate a standard charge cycle if they detect a pack voltage below their acceptance threshold — this appears as a charge error or no charge indication on the base. The fix is to give the pack a brief trickle charge at a low rate to bring it above the acceptance floor. Seat the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for several hours — most bases will begin a recovery trickle at around 2.8V per cell before switching to normal charge.
Talk time noticeably shorter than the original battery after replacement
New NiMH cells often show reduced talk time for the first three to five charge cycles — this is a conditioning effect, not a fault. The cells have not yet reached full crystalline capacity alignment, so the rated 600mAh is not available until after several full charge-discharge cycles. Run the handset down to the low-battery warning, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat this three to five times. By cycle five, talk time should be at or close to rated capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Altiset handset shows low battery almost immediately after I swap in the new pack — is it defective?
Almost certainly not. NiMH cells ship in a partial-discharge state after storage and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they deliver rated 600mAh capacity. Run the handset down to the low-battery alert, then seat it in the base for a full 16-hour charge. Repeat this cycle four more times and talk time will normalise.
The base station won't charge the new battery — the charge light stays off or shows an error. What's wrong?
The Altiset base checks incoming pack voltage before starting a standard charge cycle. A battery that has self-discharged during storage can arrive below the acceptance threshold — typically around 2.8V per cell — and the base will refuse to start. Leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed for two to three hours; most Altiset bases will begin a slow recovery trickle below that threshold before switching to normal charge. If the charge light still doesn't activate after three hours, check that the handset is fully seated and the contacts are clean.
My Altiset handset loses range near the edges of my home after fitting the new battery. The original reached further. Why?
Range reduction after a battery swap is usually a voltage-sag issue under RF load. The DECT radio transmitter in the Altiset handset draws a short current spike each time it transmits — if the NiMH pack is not yet fully conditioned, its internal resistance is higher and voltage sags under that spike, causing the transmitter to drop power. Complete the conditioning cycles — five full charge-discharge cycles — and internal resistance will drop. After conditioning, check range again at 3.6V full charge.
