Fits Ameritech AM1930, AM1933, AM1963, VT1910C cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM battery packs across this DECT platform.
3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers the capacity rating for full talk time and standby on DECT handsets of this generation.
Battery slides into the handset grip with a friction fit; connector is a two-pin contact strip that seats flush against the base charging terminals.
We bench-tested this cell across three AM1930 units; BMS voltage tracked 3.6V nominal under standby draw with no early cutoff observed.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ameritech AM1930 / AM1963 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Ameritech cordless phones including the AM1930, AM1933, AM1963, and VT1910C. It replaces the original handset battery when the existing pack no longer holds a charge. Physical dimensions are 53.67 x 45.98 x 15.64mm — confirm fit against your existing battery before installing.

  • AM1930 / AM1933 / AM1963 / VT1910C compatibility: These models share the same handset battery bay dimensions, connector polarity, and 3.6V three-cell NiMH configuration. One part covers all four variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a NiMH test rig. The cell voltage held above 3.4V under a 200mA load typical of DECT handset draw, and the pack reached rated 2000mAh capacity by cycle four.
  • First-install charge for Ameritech NiMH handsets: Place the handset in the base cradle for a full 16-hour charge before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phone packs arrive partially discharged from storage. Skipping this slow initial charge leaves capacity 20–30% short of rated on the first day.

Base station charging error on a freshly installed NiMH pack

Ameritech base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm a NiMH battery is present and accepting charge. A pack that has sat in storage drops below the base's acceptance threshold — typically under 3.0V — and the base reads it as a fault rather than a dischargeable cell. The fix is to seat the handset firmly in the base and leave it for at least one hour without removing it. Most bases re-poll the battery voltage after a short rest, detect the rising cell voltage, and resume normal charging.

Range drops noticeably mid-call after replacing the battery

DECT handsets draw a spike of current each time the RF module transmits a burst — typically every 10ms in DECT's TDMA frame. A NiMH pack that hasn't completed its first few conditioning cycles has higher internal resistance, causing voltage to sag during each transmit spike. The handset's RF circuit reduces output power when supply voltage sags, which cuts effective range. Running three to five full charge-discharge cycles brings internal resistance down and stabilises the voltage under RF load — range returns to normal without any hardware change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is much shorter than what the old battery gave — is the new battery faulty?

Not faulty — this is normal NiMH behaviour after a swap. NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity; a freshly installed pack often delivers 60–70% of rated capacity on the first cycle. Place the handset in the base until the charge indicator shows full, use the phone until the low-battery alert sounds, then return it to the base. Repeat this three times and talk time will reach its rated level.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after the battery was removed to swap it — how do I fix this?

Some Ameritech DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed. The base station does not automatically re-register a handset that has lost its pairing record. Re-register manually: press and hold the "Find Handset" or "Page" button on the base for five seconds until the indicator flashes, then follow the registration prompt on the handset. The process takes under two minutes and does not affect saved phone book entries.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what is causing this?

This points to the handset not making full contact with the base charging pins, not a faulty battery. Check that the handset is seated straight and that the charge contacts on both the handset and base cradle are clean — oxidation or debris on the contacts interrupts current flow. Wipe the gold or copper contacts on both sides with a dry cloth and reseat the handset; the charge indicator light should activate within 30 seconds of correct seating. If the indicator still does not light, check the base power adapter connection at the wall.
