Fits AT&T STB-93 cordless handsets and restores original battery slot compatibility.
2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry matches OEM output for standard talk range and standby duration.
Connector slides into handset battery compartment with friction lock — no tabs or clips required.
We charged the cell on a standard DECT base charger; BMS accepted voltage without fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T STB-93 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery for Cordless Handsets

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery built to replace the OEM STB-93 pack in AT&T cordless phone handsets. It restores power to handsets that no longer hold a charge or fail to power on. Voltage and chemistry match the original spec exactly — the base station charges it the same way it charged the factory pack.

  • STB-93 compatibility across AT&T handsets: AT&T used the STB-93 across several cordless handset lines that share the same 2.4V NiMH cell format, connector footprint, and charge-acceptance curve. The base station's trickle-charge circuit expects NiMH chemistry — swapping to a different chemistry type would cause incorrect charge termination.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 2.4V NiMH-compatible bench charger. The BMS accepted charge immediately at the correct voltage and held capacity within spec across three full cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells at storage charge will not reach rated capacity on a short initial charge — the slow base-station trickle is what conditions the cells to 600mAh.

Why talk time stays short for the first few cycles on a new NiMH pack

NiMH cells ship at a partial state of charge to meet transport safety requirements. The cells do not reach their rated 600mAh straight away — capacity builds across three to five full charge-discharge cycles. This is normal cell behaviour, not a fault with the battery. By cycle four or five, talk time will stabilise at the rated level.

Base station charge light not activating with the new pack installed

AT&T base stations use a voltage threshold to detect whether a battery is present and ready to accept charge. A NiMH pack that has self-discharged during storage can sit below that threshold, causing the base to show no charge activity or an error light. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, then re-seat it firmly — this prompts the base to re-check the voltage. If the light still does not activate, connect the handset to the base for 30 minutes with the handset powered off, then reseat — the trickle current will bring the cell voltage up to the acceptance threshold of approximately 2.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AT&T handset shows full bars after charging but the talk time is still much shorter than the old battery — is the new pack faulty?

It is not faulty. NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — 600mAh is the stabilised figure, not the out-of-box figure. Run the handset down until it beeps low, return it to the base for a full 16-hour charge, and repeat that cycle three times. Talk time will increase noticeably with each cycle.

My handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — why did it unpair?

Some AT&T DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed. Pulling the old battery broke the power rail long enough to wipe the pairing table. Re-register the handset from the base station's handset registration menu — the process takes under two minutes and is covered in the handset manual under "Register Handset."

The handset is fully charged but the battery drains completely overnight even when I leave it in the base — what is causing that?

Overnight drain while in the base points to a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset contacts are not making a clean connection with the base cradle, the base stops topping up the charge and the handset draws from the battery in standby. Remove the handset, wipe the metal charge contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and check that the charge indicator light activates. A solid charge light confirms contact is good.
