Fits Clarity 74245, C420, C430, and C435 cordless phone handsets replacing the OEM battery.
3.6V and 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sufficient capacity for full-day standby and talk cycles on DECT platforms.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery compartment with a friction latch — no polarity reversal possible.
We bench-tested this cell on a Clarity base station charger; BMS voltage settled at 3.6V nominal within two charge cycles.
After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries require slow initial charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clarity 74245 / C420 / C430 / C435 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Clarity 74245, C420, C430, and C435 cordless handsets. These models share a common battery bay and connector, so one pack covers the full range. Install it when the original battery no longer holds a charge or the handset dies shortly after leaving the base.

  • 74245, C420, C430, and C435 compatibility: All four models run on the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH configuration with an identical footprint — 45.90 × 31.20 × 10.70mm — and the same two-pin connector orientation, so this pack seats correctly across the entire lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Clarity cordless handset. The BMS accepted the charge signal from the base station immediately, and voltage held steady across standby and active call load without sagging below the handset's low-battery cutoff point.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, place the handset in the base cradle and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short on the first cycle leaves usable capacity permanently on the table.

Range drops after installing a new NiMH pack

DECT handsets adjust transmit power based on available voltage. A partially conditioned NiMH pack has a shallower voltage curve than a fully cycled one, so the handset reads available power conservatively and pulls back RF output. This is most noticeable in the first few charge-discharge cycles, before the cells reach full capacity. Run three to five complete cycles — full charge from the base, then use until the low-battery indicator trips — and range will recover to the level the original battery delivered.

Handset not pairing with the base after the battery swap

Some Clarity DECT models store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed — which happens the moment you pull the old battery out. If the handset shows "searching" or fails to ring after the swap, the pairing registration has been lost. To re-register, press and hold the Find Handset button on the base for roughly five seconds until the base beeps, then navigate to the handset's menu and select Register or Locate Base. The handset should pair within 60 seconds and return to the home screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Clarity handset talk time is way shorter than it used to be — is the new battery the problem or do I need to do something first?

Short talk time in the first few uses is normal for NiMH cordless batteries. The cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated 700mAh capacity. Leave the handset in the base for a full 16 hours after each use during those first cycles. By cycle five, talk time should match or exceed what the original battery delivered when it was new.

The base station charge light isn't coming on after I installed the new battery — what's wrong?

NiMH packs drop to a low resting voltage during storage, and some Clarity bases reject a charge signal if the incoming voltage falls below their acceptance threshold. Remove the battery, leave it out for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly and return the handset to the base. If the charge light still doesn't activate, check that the base contacts and battery terminals are clean — a thin layer of oxidation on either surface is enough to break the charge circuit. The pack should accept a charge once voltage and contact resistance are within range.

The handset battery is completely dead by morning even though I left it in the base overnight — why?

This is a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully seated in the base cradle, the charge contacts don't make a reliable connection and the handset runs on battery power in standby all night. Press the handset down firmly into the base until you feel it click or seat flush — the charge indicator light on the base should illuminate immediately. If it still drains overnight after confirming full contact, check whether the base power adapter is plugged directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip, as some strips introduce enough resistance to reduce charge current.
