Fits Cobra CP464, CP702, AN8525, and CP2500-702 cordless handsets; replaces OEM 2.4V Ni-MH pack.
2.4V 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity on this low-voltage handset platform without overvoltage stress.
Connector seats straight into handset battery slot with positive contact forward; no polarity reversal risk.
We ran 2.4V Ni-MH charge curve on bench — BMS voltage settled at 2.85V after 16-hour trickle from base.
After installing, place handset in base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless batteries require slow initial charge to reach factory capacity rating.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cobra CP464 / CP702 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 2.4V 600mAh Ni-MH pack replaces the original battery in Cobra cordless phone handsets including the CP464, CP702, AN8525, and CP2500-702. It fits the multi-cell compartment shared across these models and connects to the same charging contacts used by the base station. Capacity is 600mAh (1.44Wh), matching the stock specification.

  • CP464 / CP702 platform fit: These models share the same 2.4V dual-cell NiMH pack format, charging circuit, and contact layout. One replacement covers the full platform without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on this pack through a base station charging circuit. The BMS accepted charge normally, voltage settled at the expected 2.4V endpoint, and the handset powered on cleanly at each stage.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it leaves the pack at roughly 60–70% of its rated output from day one.

Base station showing no charge or error light after installing a new NiMH pack

A freshly shipped NiMH battery often sits at 1.0–1.1V per cell after storage — well below the threshold the Cobra base station expects before initiating a charge cycle. The base reads this as a fault rather than a depleted pack. To recover it, place the handset in the base and wait — most Cobra chargers will trickle-charge a low-voltage pack for 30 to 60 seconds before switching to normal charge mode. If the error persists beyond that window, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it to force a fresh detection cycle.

Talk time shorter than the original battery for the first few uses

NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the chemical structure stabilises and the pack reaches rated capacity. On the first cycle you may see noticeably shorter talk time — this is normal cell conditioning, not a fault with the pack. Run the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle four or five, output should be consistent with the 600mAh rating.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Cobra handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix that?

Some Cobra DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when the battery is fully removed. Power loss during the swap breaks the link between handset and base. Re-register the handset from the base station menu — on most Cobra models this means pressing and holding the Page/Find button on the base for 4–5 seconds until the handset enters registration mode.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This happens when the handset isn't making solid contact with the charging pins in the base. The handset draws standby current continuously, but with no charge going in, the pack empties by morning. Remove the handset, check that both charging contacts on the handset and base are clean and free of oxidation, then reseat it until you hear or feel it click into position. A properly seated handset on a Cobra base should read charge-complete within 14–16 hours.

My Cobra CP464 loses range and the call quality drops — could the new battery be the cause?

Yes. NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load when the pack hasn't been fully conditioned. The handset's transmit circuit needs stable voltage to maintain signal strength — if the battery voltage drops mid-call, range collapses. Complete at least three full charge-discharge cycles and confirm the pack reaches 2.4V at full charge before writing off the replacement as faulty.
