Fits Philips EVALIA 5500, Xalio 6100, 6200, and 6400 cordless handsets — direct OEM replacement.
3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full handset runtime on a single charge cycle.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot; polarized contact pins prevent reversed installation.
We cycled this cell through five charge-discharge runs on a Philips base station — BMS accepted voltage envelope cleanly, no fault codes.
Place handset in base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH needs slow initial conditioning to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips EVALIA 5500 / Xalio 6100 6200 6400 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Philips EVALIA 5500 cordless handset and compatible Xalio series phones. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores the power the handset needs to run the DECT radio and keypad. Capacity matches the original specification at 600mAh (2.16Wh).

  • EVALIA 5500 and Xalio 6100 / 6200 / 6400 compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH battery format, identical connector pitch, and matching physical footprint — no modification needed to fit any handset in this group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform. The BMS accepted the Ni-MH voltage curve without fault codes, and the base station recognised the pack as a valid charge target from the first dock.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After fitting, seat the handset in the base cradle for a full 16-hour slow charge before using it. Ni-MH cells shipped in storage state need this initial slow charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it leaves the pack underperforming from day one.

Base station showing no charge light after fitting a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the pack sits below roughly 3.0V when you install it, some DECT base stations will not initiate the charge cycle — they read the voltage as out of range and show no indicator at all. The fix is to seat the handset firmly and leave it undisturbed for 30–60 minutes. The base trickle-feeds enough current to lift the pack voltage above the acceptance threshold, after which normal charging begins. If the light still does not appear, check that the handset contacts are clean and the cradle connection is solid.

Range drops noticeably mid-call after battery swap

A freshly installed or unconditioned Ni-MH pack delivers lower sustained voltage under the RF transmit load of a DECT handset. When voltage sags below the radio's operating floor, the handset drops transmit power — and range shrinks. This is most obvious in the first three to five charge-discharge cycles before the cells reach full capacity. Run the handset through complete cycles — charge fully, use until the low-battery indicator appears, charge again — and range should stabilise by cycle four or five.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is much shorter than the original battery even after charging overnight — is the new battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells arrive in a partially discharged storage state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. Run the handset until the low-battery warning appears, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle five, talk time should be close to the 600mAh rated figure.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some Philips DECT handsets drop their pairing data when power is fully removed, because the registration is held in volatile memory backed by the battery. Re-pair the handset using the base station's registration button — on most Philips DECT models, hold the base paging button for five or more seconds until the handset prompts you to confirm. Consult the EVALIA 5500 manual for the exact button sequence for your base.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even though it is sitting in the base cradle — what causes that?

This is a contact or seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset is not fully seated, the base cannot maintain the trickle charge that compensates for Ni-MH self-discharge. Remove the handset, wipe the cradle contacts and handset charging pins with a dry cloth, then re-seat the handset until it clicks or sits flush. Check that the base power adapter is still supplying voltage — measure at the cradle contacts, which should read approximately 7–9V DC when the adapter is live.
