Fits GP T266, 7M2B7, and 8M2B7 cordless phone handsets — replaces OEM part numbers T266 and 7M2BZ.
2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full handset power for talk and standby cycles on DECT models.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery compartment with a positive-terminal-forward orientation and friction lock.
We bench-tested this cell on a T266 base charger — BMS accepted charge without fault codes on first insertion.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GP T266 / 7M2BZ — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery for Cordless Phone

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery pack for GP cordless phone handsets. It fits the T266, 7M2B7, 8M2B7, and Enix E4H models. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds a charge through a normal call.

  • T266, 7M2B7, 8M2B7, and Enix E4H handsets: These models share the same 2.4V dual-cell NiMH architecture, identical connector pinout, and matching physical footprint — one pack fits the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted charge from a standard base station cradle at the expected trickle rate, and cell voltage stabilised at 2.4V nominal across both cells after conditioning.
  • First charge after install: Place the handset in the base station for a full 16 hours before your first call. NiMH cells in cordless phones arrive partially discharged from storage — a slow first charge lets both cells reach rated capacity together and prevents one cell from lagging the other.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they hit rated capacity. On cycle one, you may see noticeably shorter talk time — this is normal cell conditioning, not a fault. Each cycle the cells accept slightly more charge than the last. By cycle five, capacity should be at or close to the 700mAh rating.

Base station showing no-charge or error light after swap

A new NiMH pack sitting in storage can drop to a voltage the base station reads as a fault condition rather than a dischargeable battery. The base's charge controller checks incoming voltage before starting the charge cycle — if it sees too low a reading, it stalls. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly. If the error persists, the pack may need a brief external boost to 2.0V before the base will accept it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless handset lost pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power drops. The fix is a manual re-register: hold the handset's page or find button for five seconds near the base, then trigger the base's registration mode. Check your handset manual for the exact key sequence — most GP models complete re-pairing within 60 seconds of both units entering registration mode together.

The handset is fully charged but the battery drains completely overnight when it's just sitting in standby — what's wrong?

This is a standby draw issue, not a capacity fault. If the handset is not fully seated in the base cradle, it keeps the RF transmitter active searching for the base signal, pulling steady current through the night. Check that the handset clicks firmly into the charging contacts and that the charge indicator light comes on when seated. If drain continues with confirmed contact, wipe the charging pins on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth — oxidised contacts interrupt trickle charging while standby draw continues unchecked.

My range got noticeably worse right after putting in the new battery — is the battery causing it?

Yes, indirectly. When NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load — common in the first few cycles before cells are conditioned — the handset's transmit power drops with it. Lower transmit power means shorter effective range, especially through walls. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to let the cells reach stable 2.4V output under load. If range is still reduced after five cycles, check that the antenna contact inside the handset is not bent or displaced from the battery swap.
