Fits Grandstream WP822 and WP825 cordless handsets, replaces OEM part GS-02.
This 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the rated capacity for full talk time and standby operation on DECT phones.
Battery slides into the handset compartment with a single-pin connector; no locking tab, seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested the pack on a WP822 base station — BMS accepted the voltage immediately, no fault light on first charge cycle.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour first charge before cordless use — Li-Polymer packs in DECT phones need a slow initial charge to stabilize the fuel gauge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grandstream WP822 / WP825 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GS-02)

This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Grandstream WP822 and WP825 cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part number GS-02 and fits the battery bay on both models without modification. Capacity is 1800mAh (6.66Wh), matching the original specification.

  • WP822 and WP825 compatibility: Both handsets share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — a single cell covers both. The Li-Polymer chemistry matches the voltage curve the handset firmware expects during charge and discharge cycles.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the WP825 handset. The BMS accepted charge from the base station without fault, cell temperature stayed within normal range, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-cycle charging on the WP822/WP825: After installing this battery, seat the handset in the base station and leave it there for a full charge before making calls. Li-Polymer cells shipped from storage may read a low state of charge, and the handset's charge indicator can show full before the cell actually reaches capacity on the first fill.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the GS-02 replacement

Li-Polymer cells arrive from storage partially discharged, and the first one or two charge cycles rarely deliver full rated capacity. The handset's fuel gauge also recalibrates over the first few full cycles — early readings can look low even when the cell is healthy. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles before drawing conclusions about capacity. By cycle three, the cell should be delivering close to its 1800mAh rating.

Handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a WP822 or WP825 cuts all power to the handset, which can clear the DECT pairing stored in volatile memory on some firmware versions. This is not a battery fault — it is a power-loss event. To restore pairing, put the handset into registration mode and re-register it to the base station through the handset menu under Settings → Pairing. The process takes under two minutes and the battery does not need to be at full charge for it to complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WP825 shows the battery is full but drops to one bar after a short call — what's happening?

This is a fuel-gauge calibration issue that appears on the first one to three cycles after fitting a new Li-Polymer cell. The handset's charge algorithm hasn't mapped the new cell's voltage curve yet, so the display jumps. Run the handset down until it warns of low battery, then charge it fully without interruption — repeat this twice and the gauge will track correctly against the 1800mAh cell.

The base station charge light isn't coming on after I installed the new battery — is the base faulty?

The base station's charge detection circuit looks for a minimum cell voltage before it begins charging. A Li-Polymer cell stored for several months can arrive below that threshold, so the base reads no valid battery and won't start the charge cycle. Take the handset off the base, wait 30 seconds, reseat it firmly, and check the charge contact pins on both the handset and base for debris. If the light still won't activate, connect the handset to a USB charger via the WP825's USB-C port for 10–15 minutes to bring the cell above 3.0V, then return it to the base.

My WP822 battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what drains it?

If the handset isn't fully seated in the base cradle, the charge contacts don't close and the handset runs on battery in standby all night. Check that the handset clicks down into the cradle and that the charge indicator light activates within a few seconds of placing it. Also confirm the base station has mains power and that the power adapter hasn't partially unseated from the base. A properly seated WP822 in an active base should show a stable charge state by morning, not a depleted cell.
