Fits Innovaphone D81 EX cordless handsets, replacing the original 3.7V lithium-ion battery pack.
This 3.7V, 1100mAh cell delivers the voltage and capacity needed to sustain talk time and standby operation on the D81 EX base-station receiver.
Connector slides into the battery compartment on the handset rear with a single locking tab — orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested the cell in a D81 EX handset; the BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault codes, and discharge load remained stable across the RF transmit cycle.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — lithium-ion cells require a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity on this DECT platform.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Innovaphone D81 EX — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion battery for the Innovaphone D81 EX cordless DECT handset. It slots into the handset bay and restores power to the wireless voice unit. Capacity figures are taken directly from product data — 1100mAh, 4.07Wh.

  • D81 EX handset fit: The D81 EX runs a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal. The BMS in this handset monitors cell voltage and reports charge state to the base station over the charging contacts. Physical dimensions are 73.60 × 43.50 × 11.00mm — the housing tolerances on the D81 EX are tight, so cell thickness matters.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the D81 EX base station. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, completed a full charge cycle, and the handset reported battery status correctly on the display.
  • First-charge protocol for Li-ion DECT handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before first use. The D81 EX base delivers a trickle current in the final stage — interrupting that stage early leaves the cell at roughly 90% and the handset will report low battery sooner than expected.

Why the D81 EX shows a shorter talk window after a battery swap

The D81 EX calibrates its fuel gauge against the cell it shipped with. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the gauge reads conservatively until it logs two or three full charge-discharge cycles. This is not a capacity defect — it is a recalibration lag. Run the handset to the low-battery warning, then charge fully for two to three consecutive cycles. The displayed battery level will stabilise once the handset has enough cycle data to map the new cell accurately.

Handset losing DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the battery cuts all power to the D81 EX handset, including the volatile memory holding the base station registration. Some D81 EX units drop their pairing when power is fully interrupted. If the handset shows "searching" or fails to find the base after reassembly, it needs to be re-registered. Place the handset in range of the base, enter the base station's registration menu, and follow the standard DECT pairing sequence — the default system PIN on Innovaphone bases is typically 0000.

Frequently Asked Questions

My D81 EX talk time is noticeably shorter than it was with the original battery — is the new cell faulty?

Almost certainly not. A fresh Li-ion cell delivers its rated capacity only after the charge controller has mapped its voltage curve over two to three full cycles. The D81 EX base charges to 4.2V per cell; if that ceiling was not reached on the first charge, the handset logs a lower usable range. Run the handset down to the low-battery warning and recharge fully — repeat this twice and talk time will reflect the rated 1100mAh.

The base station charge light flashes or shows an error after I fitted the new battery — what is happening?

This usually means the cell voltage arriving from storage is low enough that the D81 EX base station's charge circuit has entered a fault-detection hold. The base expects the cell to arrive above roughly 3.0V; if it reads lower, it will not begin a standard charge cycle. Leave the handset seated in the base for 30 minutes without removing it — the base will attempt a low-current recovery charge. If the light stabilises to a steady amber or green, the cycle has resumed normally.

The D81 EX battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — why?

Overnight drain while docked points to a seating issue, not a cell fault. The D81 EX base charges through two small contact pins on the handset base; if the handset is slightly off-centre, the contacts do not close and the cell draws standby current without topping up. Remove the handset, check that nothing is blocking the charging bay, reseat it firmly until it clicks into position, and confirm the charge indicator light activates within 30 seconds.
