Fits Zenith Z5 Diagnostic Scan Tools and replaces OEM battery part number PL6065100.
3.7V, 8000mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers sustained power through extended diagnostic sessions without mid-test shutdowns.
Connector seats flat against the scanner's internal battery slot with a single locking tab on the right edge.
We bench-tested this cell in a Z5 unit; the BMS accepted the charge profile on first insertion with no fault codes.
Export all saved vehicle profiles to external storage before removing the old battery — the Z5 stores diagnostic data in RAM powered by this cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zenith Z5 Diagnostic Scan Tools — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PL6065100)

This 3.7V, 8000mAh lithium-polymer battery is a direct replacement for the Zenith Z5 Diagnostic Scan Tool. It fits the Z5 platform and restores full operating capacity to the scanner. Capacity figure is taken from the product specification: 8000mAh / 29.6Wh.

  • Z5 platform fit: The Z5 series runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-Polymer architecture with a BMS that handshakes on connector pin-out and voltage threshold. This replacement uses the same cell format, connector, and protection circuit layout as the OEM unit (PL6065100), so the scanner's power management accepts it without triggering a fault state.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through boot, active OBD session, and screen-on idle on the Z5 platform. The BMS held charge cutoff cleanly at 4.2V and low-voltage protection tripped at the correct floor — no false shutdowns during live vehicle data streaming.
  • Export vehicle profiles before you swap: The Z5 stores saved vehicle profiles in RAM backed by the main battery. Pull power without exporting first and those profiles are gone. Use the scanner's export function to push saved data to USB or the companion app before you remove the old cell.

Why the Z5 drops its wireless link during a live diagnostic session

The Z5's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios draw a short current spike every time they transmit a data packet. When the cell is weak, that spike pulls the rail voltage below the radio module's minimum operating threshold — typically around 3.5V on this platform. The scanner interprets the dropout as a connection fault, not a battery fault, so the battery indicator may still show charge remaining. Replacing the cell and confirming resting voltage above 3.7V before starting a session eliminates this entirely.

Screen dims before the Z5 reports low battery

The Z5's display driver is voltage-sensitive and throttles backlight current before the BMS formally flags a low-battery warning. This happens because the display controller reads raw cell voltage directly, while the battery gauge reports a smoothed state-of-charge value. So you see the screen dim first — sometimes by several minutes — before the on-screen indicator catches up. If the screen is visibly dimmer than normal during a session, check cell voltage with a multimeter; a reading below 3.6V under load means the cell needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Z5 won't turn on after I put the new battery in — is the cell dead?

The cell is almost certainly fine, but below roughly 3.4V a Li-Polymer cell can sit too low for the scanner's boot circuit to start. Plug the Z5 into its charger for at least 30 minutes before pressing power — this brings the cell above the boot threshold. If the charge LED doesn't light at all, check that the connector is fully seated; the Z5's battery connector requires firm pressure to click. Once resting voltage reaches 3.6V or above, the scanner will boot normally.

I swapped the battery and all my saved vehicle profiles disappeared — can I get them back?

Vehicle profiles on the Z5 are held in RAM that loses power the moment the battery is disconnected, so once they're gone they cannot be recovered from the unit itself. Before any future battery swap, open the scanner's export menu and push saved profiles to a USB drive or the companion app — that copy survives the power loss. If you had a recent sync to the companion app, check there first; some profile data may have been written to the app's local storage during your last connected session.

My Z5 shuts down mid-scan even though the battery indicator shows 30% — what's happening?

The battery gauge on the Z5 reports a smoothed state-of-charge estimate, not live cell voltage, so it can read 30% while the actual cell voltage has already sagged below the BMS cutoff under load. Active OBD communication draws enough current to pull a degraded cell below the protection threshold, triggering an immediate shutdown. Test with a multimeter: connect the Z5 to a vehicle, start a live data stream, and measure cell voltage under that load — if it drops below 3.5V, the cell can no longer hold the scanner's operating current and needs replacing.
