Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Vitality Kreidler eBike — 36V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 36V, 11600mAh (417.6Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Kreidler electric eBike. It slots into the same mounting position as the original pack and connects to the same motor controller. When the stock battery no longer holds a useful charge after repeated cycles, this is the direct swap.
- Kreidler eBike platform fit: The Kreidler uses a 36V mid-drive or hub-motor system that draws sustained current on climbs. This pack matches that voltage rail and carries enough capacity to keep the BMS from tripping under the motor's peak draw during assisted pedaling.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 36V test rig. The BMS held cutoff correctly at both the low-voltage floor and high-voltage ceiling, and the cell balance stayed within spec across all test passes.
- First charge after winter storage: After months of storage, Li-ion cells develop elevated internal resistance. Plug in and let the pack charge at whatever rate the supplied charger delivers — do not interrupt the first cycle early. Let it complete fully before the first ride so the BMS can re-establish accurate cell-balance data.
Charger not accepting the Kreidler pack after long storage
If the charger LED stays green or shows no activity when you plug in a stored pack, the cells have likely self-discharged below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 30V on a 36V system. Most chargers will not begin a full charge cycle until the pack voltage is above that floor. Leave the charger connected for 20–30 minutes. Most chargers carry a trickle-mode that slowly raises pack voltage until the main charge cycle kicks in. If the charger still shows no activity after 30 minutes, measure the pack voltage at the charge port — anything below 28V indicates deep discharge that requires a bench charger with a recovery mode.
Motor cutting out mid-hill on the Kreidler
A sustained climb pulls significantly more current than flat-road assist — peak demand can spike the BMS's overcurrent threshold even when the pack is healthy. When the BMS trips, the motor cuts instantly and the display may go blank or show an error code. This is a protection event, not a faulty battery. Stop pedaling, wait 10–15 seconds for the BMS to reset, then restart with lower assist level to reduce the current draw. If the cutout repeats on moderate grades, check the pack voltage before a ride — anything below 33V at rest means the cells are too depleted to sustain motor current on inclines.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Kreidler eBike motor stutters and loses power on steep inclines even with a new battery — what's happening?
Sustained climbing at high assist levels pulls peak current that causes voltage sag across the cell stack — the voltage at the motor controller drops temporarily below its operating threshold, causing the stutter. This is different from a BMS trip; the motor doesn't cut out completely, it just loses torque. Drop the assist level one setting before hitting a long climb to keep the current draw below the sag point. If the stutter happens even at mid-assist, measure resting pack voltage — it should read between 41V and 42V on a full charge.
After leaving my Kreidler stored all winter, the battery charges but my range feels noticeably shorter on the first few spring rides — is the pack damaged?
Li-ion cells lose 15–25% of their usable capacity in temperatures below 5°C, and that capacity doesn't return immediately when the pack warms up. The cells also sit at a partial state of charge during storage, which means the first charge cycle may not fully balance all cells. Ride the first two or three cycles at normal depth — full charge, ride until the assist cuts at low battery, then charge again. After two to three full cycles the BMS recalibrates the state-of-charge estimate and range typically returns to normal levels.
The Kreidler charger light went straight to green the moment I plugged in the new battery — does that mean it's already fully charged?
No — an immediate green light on most 36V eBike chargers means the charger did not detect a valid pack voltage and never started the charge cycle. Unplug the charger from the pack, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect. If the light goes green again immediately, check the charge port contacts on the battery for debris or corrosion. A healthy charge cycle on an empty pack should show a red or amber light for at least 2–3 hours before switching to green — if you skip this step and ride, the pack is likely at a low state of charge and the BMS will trip early under motor load.
