Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wolf Garten Gardening Tool — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V 2500mAh lithium-ion pack replaces the original Accu80 battery used in Wolf Garten cordless gardening tools. It fits the 8803, 8824, and BS80 Plus models, which share a common 7.4V power rail and connector format. Capacity sits at 18.5Wh — matched to the original specification.

  • Compatibility across 8803, 8824, and BS80 Plus: These models run the same 7.4V two-cell architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS communication, so one pack covers all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under load and triggered the low-voltage cutoff cleanly without tripping the tool's protection circuit.
  • First charge after storage: If the pack has sat in a warehouse, run a full charge before the first use — Li-ion cells recover capacity better when brought up slowly from a partial state.

Cell configuration and what 7.4V means in practice

A 7.4V nominal rating means two Li-ion cells in series. Each cell runs between 3.0V (depleted) and 4.2V (full), giving the pack a working range of roughly 6.0V to 8.4V. The onboard BMS monitors both cells individually and balances charge to prevent one cell from ageing faster than the other. At 66.50 x 37.10 x 19.20mm, the pack is compact enough to keep the tool's weight distribution close to the original.

Tool powers on briefly then shuts off — what's happening and how to fix it

This usually means the pack's resting voltage has dropped below the tool's minimum threshold after extended storage. The BMS reads a low cell voltage and cuts output before damage occurs. Connect the pack to its charger for a full cycle before reinserting it into the tool. If the charger does not recognise the pack at all, the BMS may have entered deep sleep — some chargers have a recovery or boost mode that can wake it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Wolf Garten grass shears cut fine for a bit then slow right down before the battery is even close to empty — what's happening?

At 7.4V, Li-ion cells in light cutting tools drop voltage faster under blade resistance than the charge indicator reflects, so the tool's protection circuit reads an acceptable state of charge but the actual cell voltage sags below the motor's efficient operating threshold mid-job. This is often worse with a new replacement battery on its first two or three cycles before the cells have balanced. Run two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles before assuming the battery is faulty. If the slowdown keeps happening after that, check resting voltage with a multimeter — a healthy 7.4V pack should read between 8.2V and 8.4V fully charged.

Charged the replacement battery overnight and the shears won't even turn on — no lights, nothing

A 7.4V Li-ion pack that's been stored or shipped in a deeply discharged state can sit below the threshold the charger needs to recognise it and begin charging, so it never actually took a charge. This is called a sleep state, and the pack looks dead even though it isn't necessarily failed. Try leaving it on the charger for a full 24 hours — some chargers will trickle enough current to wake the cells. If there's still no response after that, measure voltage directly across the battery terminals; anything below 5.5V means the cells have dropped too far to recover safely.

Blade is spinning but feels weak and it's struggling through grass it used to handle easily — replaced battery and it's worse than the old one

Counterintuitively, a brand-new Li-ion replacement can perform worse than an old partially degraded pack for the first few cycles because the cells haven't gone through enough charge-discharge passes to reach full capacity. The 2500mAh rating is the cell's rated capacity at formation, not what it delivers out of the box. Check that the battery is clicking fully into the tool's contact bay — a partially seated pack on the BS80 Plus or 8824 body creates enough contact resistance to rob power at the motor. Fully seat it, run it to cutoff twice, and recharge completely before judging performance.
