Fits Globalstar 001 and BT-001 Bluetooth GPS navigators; replaces OEM battery CS-BT001SL.
3.7V, 180mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 0.67Wh — sufficient for standby operation and intermittent satellite communication on these compact handheld units.
Connector seats vertically into the battery slot with no locking tab; ensure contact pins face the device cavity during insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in a Globalstar 001 unit; the internal BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault delay or charge rejection.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before field use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5-10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Globalstar BT-001 Bluetooth GPS — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 180mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the factory battery in the Globalstar BT-001 Bluetooth GPS and 001 satellite communicator. At 30 × 20 × 4mm, it matches the original footprint exactly. Fit models include the 001, BT-001, and BT-001 Bluetooth GPS.

  • BT-001 and 001 platform fit: Both the 001 and BT-001 share the same battery cavity dimensions and 3.7V Li-Polymer voltage rail. The connector orientation and BMS handshake spec are identical across these variants, so the same cell services the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the BT-001 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held charge to rated capacity, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold — no forced shutdowns during the test cycle.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors in open sky and let it acquire a satellite fix before relying on it. A full power interruption forces a cold start — first fix typically takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the BT-001

At low state of charge, the BT-001's receiver section pulls from a sagging voltage rail. Some GPS units respond by reducing receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge — this shows up as position drift or a wider accuracy radius on screen. The fix is straightforward: keep the cell above the midpoint of its charge cycle during active tracking sessions. A freshly charged 180mAh cell holds the receiver at full sensitivity through a typical use window.

Device shutting off without a low-battery warning

An aged or deeply discharged cell can sit below the calibrated indicator threshold while still powering the display — the unit shows one bar, then cuts off with no further warning. This happens because the voltage-to-capacity curve steepens sharply near depletion on Li-Polymer cells. A new cell recalibrates the effective range the indicator reads against. After fitting the replacement, run two full charge-discharge cycles to let the device re-map the voltage curve accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BT-001 lost all saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The BT-001 holds some route and waypoint data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power interruption clears it. This is a one-time loss tied to the swap, not a fault with the new cell. Before your next battery change, export routes via the companion app or write down key coordinates so nothing is lost during the transition.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — was something damaged?

Nothing is damaged. Removing power forces the unit into a cold start, which means it has to re-download the full satellite almanac from scratch. That process takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Once the almanac is cached, subsequent locks return to under a minute — take the unit outside and leave it stationary until it completes the first fix.

The BT-001 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating compared to standby — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is working correctly. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and display simultaneously, which draws significantly more current than standby mode where the receiver polls at low frequency. At 180mAh capacity, that difference in draw rate is immediately noticeable. Reduce display brightness during navigation to lower the combined draw and extend the charge cycle.
