Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SkyBell DH Doorbell — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PLM553443)
This 3.8V, 800mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original PLM553443 battery inside the SkyBell DH video doorbell. The SkyBell DH is a hardwired-assist smart doorbell that streams live video and two-way audio for home security. Voltage and physical dimensions match the OEM spec exactly — 45.30 × 33.10 × 5.30mm.
- SkyBell DH fit: The DH model uses a slim Li-Polymer pouch cell on a dedicated 3.8V rail. The PLM553443 cell connects through a board-mounted BMS that regulates charge input from the doorbell's transformer feed. A physically oversized cell will not seat correctly and will stress the flex connector.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the DH's onboard BMS, confirmed charge acceptance from 3.0V to 4.2V, and verified the protection circuit tripped correctly on simulated over-discharge. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes on reconnect.
- First-install power cycle: After fitting the new cell, perform a full power cycle through the SkyBell app. The firmware must re-register the cell before motion event recording logs correctly to cloud storage — skipping this step can leave motion triggers silently failing.
SkyBell DH going offline in the app after a battery swap
Replacing the cell disconnects the doorbell briefly, which drops the active firmware session. When power returns, the SkyBell DH sometimes fails to re-establish its cloud registration automatically. The device will appear offline in the app even though the LED ring shows normal operation locally. Open the SkyBell app, navigate to device settings, and trigger a manual reconnect — the doorbell re-handshakes with the server and restores live view.
App reporting 0% or stuck battery percentage after install
The SkyBell DH uses a voltage-threshold indicator, not a fuel gauge IC. After fitting a new cell, the app reads the resting voltage and maps it to a percentage — but this calibration is off until the cell completes one full charge cycle from the transformer. Let the doorbell charge uninterrupted until the indicator in the app reaches 100%, then allow one normal discharge through regular use. After that cycle, the reported percentage will track accurately against the 3.8V nominal rail.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SkyBell DH stops detecting motion after I replaced the battery — live view still works fine. What's wrong?
The processor and IR LEDs together draw a short combined current spike when a motion event triggers. If the new cell's BMS hasn't been initialised through the app, that spike can trip the protection threshold and the motion circuit drops out while the idle video stream stays up. Power cycle the doorbell through the SkyBell app settings after battery installation so the firmware registers the new cell correctly. Once done, test motion detection by walking in front of the doorbell and confirming a clip logs in the event history.
Night vision cuts out after a few hours of darkness but the doorbell stays online — is this the battery?
Sustained IR LED draw overnight pulls more continuous current than daytime operation. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS's low-voltage warning threshold — typically around 3.4V on this rail — the doorbell shuts down the IR emitters to protect the cell while keeping the base processor alive. Charge the doorbell fully to 4.2V from the transformer before testing again. If night vision still drops, check that the transformer is supplying adequate voltage to the DH's charge input, as a weak feed will leave the cell partially charged and unable to sustain IR load.
The SkyBell DH shows a charging indicator but the battery percentage doesn't rise after several hours — why?
A deeply discharged Li-Polymer cell can fall below the BMS re-entry voltage, usually around 2.5–3.0V, which locks the protection circuit and prevents charge current from flowing even when the transformer is connected. The doorbell shows a charging animation from the power feed, but the cell itself isn't accepting current. Disconnect the doorbell from its mount, leave it unpowered for two minutes, then reconnect to the transformer. This reset allows the BMS to re-initialise and attempt trickle charge entry — if the cell recovers, voltage will climb back above 3.0V within 30 minutes.
