Fits Flymo Cordless Multitrim CT250X and replaces OEM part number 9648645-25.
12.8V LiFePO4 chemistry delivers 6000mAh capacity for sustained cutting power on lawn edges and grass.
Connector slides onto the trimmer's rear battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this LiFePO4 pack with the CT250X motor load — BMS held steady through full discharge with no early cutoff.
Before first spring use, bring the pack indoors overnight if outdoor temperature sits below 10°C; cold cells increase internal resistance and can trip the BMS on blade motor startup under load.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Flymo Cordless Multitrim CT250X — 12.8V LiFePO4 Replacement Battery (9648645-25)

This is a 12.8V 6000mAh LiFePO4 replacement battery for the Flymo Cordless Multitrim CT250X and Contour PowerPlus Cordless CCT250 string trimmers. It matches the OEM part number 9648645-25 and slots into the same battery bay as the original pack. Capacity is 6000mAh (76.8Wh), identical to factory spec.

  • CT250X and CCT250 compatibility: Both trimmers run the same 12.8V LiFePO4 platform and share the 9648645-25 connector and BMS handshake. The cutting head motor draws from the same voltage rail, so one battery design covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated blade-start events under simulated thick-grass load. The BMS held the voltage rail steady through motor inrush and tripped cleanly at the thermal threshold without latching off permanently.
  • Cold-weather start protocol: LiFePO4 cells still experience higher internal resistance below 10°C. If the trimmer has been stored in a cold garage, bring the battery indoors for several hours before use — blade motor inrush on a cold pack can trip the BMS on the first pull.

BMS cutoff on thick-grass or wet-grass blade load

The CT250X motor draws a sharp inrush current every time the blade engages dense or wet vegetation. If the BMS reads that spike as exceeding its protection threshold, it cuts power instantly. This is a protective response, not a battery fault. Let the trimmer sit for 30 seconds, then restart — the BMS resets automatically once the overcurrent condition clears.

Charger showing a fault light after the trimmer sat in storage all winter

LiFePO4 cells self-discharge slowly over months of inactivity. If the pack voltage drops below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 10V on this platform — the charger will flash a fault indicator and refuse to charge. Some chargers have a recovery or trickle mode; activate it and leave the pack connected for up to two hours. If the charger accepts the pack, it will transition to normal charge mode once the cell voltage climbs back above the threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Flymo CT250X cuts out halfway through a thick patch of grass and then starts again — is that the battery failing?

That's thermal protection triggering, not cell failure. The blade motor draws a higher current through dense vegetation, and the BMS cuts power to protect the cells from overheating. Let the trimmer rest for five minutes so the pack temperature drops, then continue. If it trips repeatedly on normal grass, check that the cutting head is free of debris — extra resistance forces the motor to draw harder.

The charger won't accept my new battery after the trimmer sat in the garage all winter — it just flashes a fault light.

Self-discharge over winter can pull the cell voltage below the charger's acceptance floor. Switch the charger to its recovery or trickle mode if available, and leave the pack connected for up to two hours. Once cell voltage climbs back above the acceptance threshold the charger will shift into its normal charge cycle. If no recovery mode exists on your charger, a compatible LiFePO4 charger with a wake-up function will do the same job.

The new battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one after the first few uses — should I be concerned?

Warmth during the first several charge and discharge cycles is normal for new LiFePO4 cells as the electrolyte settles and internal resistance stabilises. After five full cycles the pack should run at a similar temperature to a healthy original battery. If the pack is too hot to hold comfortably against your palm after those first five cycles, stop use and check that the battery contacts in the trimmer are clean and seating fully.
