Fits Kress KR133E, KR136E, and KR174E mower models; replaces OEM part number 59002628.
20.0V, 12500mAh lithium-ion cell delivers sustained blade motor power under thick-grass load conditions.
Slide connector seats into the mower's vertical battery slot with a single locking tab engagement.
Bench testing showed stable BMS response under full blade load with no cutoff drift across five charge cycles.
Before first use each season, bring the battery indoors overnight if outdoor temperature is below 10°C — cold cells trip the blade motor inrush protection, causing mid-cut shutdown.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kress KR133E / KR136E Series — 20.0V Li-ion Replacement Battery (59002628)

This 20.0V, 12500mAh (250Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack on Kress cordless lawn mowers including the KR133E, KR136E, and KR174E. It uses OEM part numbers 59002628, 59002634, KA3006, KA3010, and KA3210. The connector and BMS handshake match the original Kress platform directly.

  • KR133E / KR136E / KR174E platform fit: These mower models share the same 20V battery rail, connector housing, and BMS communication protocol. One battery works across the platform because Kress standardised the cell-to-deck interface across this lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through simulated blade-motor inrush loads at 20V nominal. The BMS held the connection through repeated high-draw cycles and balanced the cells correctly after each discharge.
  • Seasonal storage before first spring use: Before first use of the season, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, and the blade motor inrush current can trip the BMS on a cold pack before the mower even starts cutting.

BMS cutoff on thick-grass or wet-grass blade load

The KR133E blade motor draws peak current at startup and again when it hits a dense grass row or wet clippings. If the BMS reads a current spike beyond its protection threshold, it shuts the output to protect the cells. This is not a battery fault — it is the protection circuit working correctly. Slow your mowing pace through thick sections and let the blade reach full speed before engaging heavy growth.

Charger showing a fault light after the mower sat through winter

Li-ion packs self-discharge in storage. If the pack drops below approximately 2.5V per cell over winter, most Kress chargers will flag a fault and refuse to begin a charge cycle. To recover the pack, leave it connected to the charger for 20–30 minutes — some chargers apply a trickle pre-charge to bring cells back above the acceptance threshold. If the charger still rejects it after 30 minutes, check individual cell groups with a multimeter and look for any cell below 2.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Kress mower cuts out halfway across a thick row then starts again after a minute — is the battery failing?

This is thermal protection, not cell failure. The blade motor pulls high current through dense or wet grass, the BMS detects the heat or current spike, and it interrupts output to protect the cells. Allow a 5-minute cooldown with the mower stationary, then resume. If it cuts out repeatedly on the same patch, slow your pace and make two lighter passes instead of one heavy cut.

The charger rejected my Kress battery after it spent winter in the garage — fault light came on immediately. What do I do?

Self-discharge over winter can drop the pack below the charger's acceptance voltage, typically around 2.5V per cell. Leave the pack connected to the charger for 20–30 minutes — many Kress chargers apply a low-current pre-charge to bring cells back above the threshold before switching to a normal cycle. If the fault light stays on after 30 minutes, measure the pack voltage with a multimeter; a reading below 16V on the full 20V pack indicates at least one cell group has dropped critically low.

My new Kress battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one after the first few mowing sessions — is something wrong?

New Li-ion cells run slightly warmer during the first 3–5 cycles as the electrolyte stabilises and the BMS calibrates its charge/discharge curves. This is normal conditioning behaviour, not a fault. The surface temperature should stay below approximately 45°C during use — warm to the touch is fine, hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold is not. After 5 full discharge-and-recharge cycles, operating temperature should settle close to what you saw with the original pack.
