Fits Astell&Kern AK300 and AK380 portable audio players, replacing OEM part CP-AK380.
3.8V, 3300mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers the original charge capacity for full playback sessions.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with no locking tab — orientation is keyed for one insertion direction only.
We bench-tested this cell in an AK300 unit; BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion with no fault codes or voltage rail instability.
After installation, connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before powering on — the AK300 enters deep discharge protection after storage and requires initial trickle current to accept normal charge flow.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Astell&Kern AK300 / AK380 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (CP-AK380)

This is a 3.8V, 3300mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Astell&Kern AK300 and AK380 portable high-resolution audio players. It replaces OEM part CP-AK380 and fits the same cell cavity dimensions: 78.00 × 42.64 × 6.26mm. Capacity is 12.54Wh — matched to the original specification.

  • AK300 and AK380 compatibility: Both models share the CP-AK380 cell format, the same 3.8V nominal voltage rail, and an identical BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits both units without any hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the AK300. The BMS accepted the cell without a fault flag, voltage held steady across the mid-charge range, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • Post-install charge cycle on the AK300/AK380: After fitting this cell, connect the player to its original charger and let it charge fully before powering on. Media players with depleted cells often enter a deep-discharge protection state that requires slow trickle current before the BMS will accept a standard charge rate. Skipping this step can cause the device to show no charge activity for the first 20–30 minutes.

Battery percentage jumping after a cell swap on the AK300

The AK300 estimates state-of-charge using voltage thresholds calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different resting voltage profile, so the indicator can read 80% one moment and drop to 60% minutes later. This is a recalibration issue, not a cell defect. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and the on-screen percentage will stabilise as the firmware maps the new cell's actual curve.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator reaches empty

The AK300's audio amplifier draws a brief current spike when driving low-impedance headphones or balanced outputs at high volume. Near the end of a discharge cycle, cell voltage sags under that spike and drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — the player shuts down even though the indicator hasn't reached zero. This isn't a faulty battery; it's the protection circuit doing its job. To reduce premature cutoffs, lower output gain by one step in the AK300's settings and recharge when the indicator reaches 15%.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AK300 won't turn on at all after sitting unused for a few months — is the battery dead?

Extended storage drains lithium-polymer cells below the BMS re-enable threshold, which locks the player out of a normal boot. Connect the AK300 to its charger and leave it for 30 minutes before pressing the power button — the BMS needs slow trickle current to recover the cell voltage to a level where it will allow startup. If the charge indicator light comes on at any point during that window, the cell is recovering. Once it reaches 3.0V per cell, normal charging resumes.

The battery percentage on my AK380 jumps around erratically after I replaced the cell — what's causing that?

The AK380's fuel gauge uses voltage-threshold mapping tied to the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different internal resistance will show unstable percentage readings until the firmware relearns the curve. Run three complete charge-and-discharge cycles without interrupting them mid-way. After the third cycle, the percentage display should track consistently — if it's still jumping by more than 10% at a time, check that the connector is fully seated.

WiFi streaming on the AK300 drains the battery much faster than local playback — is something wrong with this replacement cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. Wireless draw on the AK300 runs four to five times higher than display-only or local playback draw because the WiFi radio sustains a continuous transmit-receive cycle. That extra load accelerates voltage sag, so the battery depletes noticeably faster during streaming sessions. Switch the AK300 to local file playback for critical listening sessions and reserve streaming for shorter use. If battery life during local playback also seems short, run a full calibration cycle — charge to 100%, play until shutdown, then recharge fully.
