Fits Insignia NS-4V17, NS-4V17R, NS-4V17B, NS-2V17 media players; replaces OEM part number 7F18F18.
Delivers 3.7V at 450mAh capacity — powers portable video and audio playback for standard daily use cycles.
Connector clips directly into the player's internal slot; locking tab seats flush with the compartment frame.
We bench-tested the cell in an NS-4V17 unit; the BMS accepted full charge on a standard USB charger with no fault codes.
After installing this pack, connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before powering on — media players enter deep discharge protection after storage and need a trickle charge cycle to accept normal current.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Insignia NS-4V17 / NS-2V17 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (7F18F18)

This 3.7V 450mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces OEM part 7F18F18 in Insignia NS-4V17, NS-4V17R, NS-4V17B, NS-2V17, and related models. It fits the compact form factor of these portable media players with dimensions of 43.00 × 34.70 × 3.60mm. Swap it in when the original cell can no longer hold a usable charge across a playback session.

  • NS-4V17 and NS-2V17 platform compatibility: These models share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and 3.7V operating rail, so one cell covers the full variant range — NS-4V17, NS-4V17R, NS-4V17B, and NS-2V17 without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on NS-series hardware and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without triggering overcurrent cutoff or rejection flags at full charge completion.
  • Post-swap initialisation — NS-4V17 specific: After fitting the new cell, connect the charger before pressing power. These players often enter deep-discharge protection after storage and require a slow trickle input before the firmware accepts a normal charge current. Give it 30 minutes on charge first.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the NS-4V17

After replacing the cell, the NS-4V17's on-screen battery indicator may jump between values — showing 80%, then 40%, then 90% across short intervals. This happens because the device's voltage-threshold fuel gauge is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a flatter, healthier discharge curve that the gauge hasn't mapped yet. Run two or three full charge-to-low cycles and the indicator will stabilise.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

Audio amplifier circuits inside the NS-4V17 draw a spike of current at output peaks, which drags cell voltage down sharply at the low end of discharge. When the cell is aged, that voltage sag trips the low-voltage cutoff even while the indicator still reads 10–20%. A fresh 450mAh cell restores enough headroom that the amplifier can sustain output through to actual cell depletion. If cutouts persist after swapping the cell, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose contact causes the same voltage sag symptom.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NS-4V17 won't turn on after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead too?

No — this is deep-discharge protection triggering on the new cell, not a dead battery. When a Li-Polymer cell drops below roughly 2.5V during long storage, the protection circuit blocks power output until a trickle charge restores the cell to a safe voltage. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes without pressing power. After that, the player should boot normally.

The battery percentage on my NS-4V17 drops from 50% straight to 0% and shuts off — what's happening?

The fuel gauge in these players reads voltage thresholds, not true charge state. After a cell swap, the firmware is still using the old cell's degraded voltage curve as its reference. A new 450mAh cell holds a flatter, higher voltage through most of its discharge range, which confuses the gauge and causes sudden shutoffs. Run two full charge-to-low cycles — charge to 100%, use until shutdown, repeat — and the threshold mapping will align to the new cell's curve.

My NS-4V17 charges fine but drains noticeably faster when I use Bluetooth — is that a battery problem?

That's normal behaviour, not a fault with the cell. Wireless radio draw on these small players runs 4–5 times higher than display-only playback draw, which compresses usable charge significantly at 450mAh total capacity. If the drain seems excessive even against that baseline, check whether the player is scanning for unpaired devices in the background — turn Bluetooth off between sessions when you don't need it to stop the continuous scan current.
