Fits Laerdal Resusci Baby QCPR manikin, replaces OEM part number 161-40023.
This 7.4V 3400mAh lithium-ion cell powers the chest compression feedback system during CPR training sessions.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We bench-tested this cell in the Resusci Baby platform—BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without rejection codes.
After installation, let the device complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption; medical devices verify new battery chemistry at startup, and interrupting this sequence triggers a false low-battery alarm that only clears on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Laerdal Resusci Baby QCPR — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (161-40023)

This 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Laerdal Resusci Baby QCPR manikin. It powers the compression quality feedback electronics — the system that tracks depth, rate, and hand position during CPR training. Match OEM part number 161-40023 before ordering.

  • Resusci Baby QCPR feedback system: The QCPR platform runs a continuous BMS handshake between the battery and the feedback board. The voltage rail, connector pinout, and cell chemistry must match exactly — mismatched cells cause the feedback module to drop offline mid-session without warning.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the QCPR platform, confirmed BMS communication stayed active, and verified the compression sensor data stream remained uninterrupted throughout the test load.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the manikin complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting the boot sequence. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power during this window logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Why the QCPR manikin won't complete its boot sequence after a battery swap

The Resusci Baby QCPR runs a multi-stage BMS initialisation at power-on that checks cell voltage, internal resistance, and chemistry signature against stored OEM thresholds. A new cell that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle may sit slightly below the voltage floor the BMS expects, which stalls the boot at the self-test stage. This isn't a fault with the battery — it's the device's safety logic protecting the compression sensor circuit. Charge the pack fully before first installation, then allow the boot sequence to complete without interruption.

Low battery alarm triggers immediately after confirmed full charge

This happens because the device's charge IC applies a conservative voltage ceiling on an unfamiliar cell during the first charge cycle, and the resulting resting voltage can fall just inside the alarm threshold. The BMS hasn't yet calibrated its state-of-charge model to the new cell's actual capacity curve. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle before using the manikin in a training session. After that conditioning cycle, resting voltage stabilises above 8.0V and the alarm clears.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Resusci Baby QCPR manikin powers on but the compression feedback drops out partway through a training session — is that the battery?

Most likely, yes. In the first ten cycles, a new Li-ion cell under the QCPR's sensor load shows a steeper voltage sag than a conditioned pack, and the BMS interprets that mid-session sag as a low-cell event and cuts the feedback module. This isn't a defective battery — it's the BMS applying a conservative load threshold before the cell is fully broken in. Run five full charge-discharge cycles before clinical or assessed training use, and the mid-session cutoffs stop.

The manikin won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat uninstalled in a box for a few months — what's happening?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the pack dropped below approximately 6.0V, the QCPR's BMS recovery threshold, the device won't attempt a boot. Put the battery on the charger for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before reinstalling. If the charger shows activity and the pack reaches 8.3–8.4V resting voltage, reinstall and allow the full boot sequence to complete before pressing the power button again.

The charge indicator on the Resusci Baby QCPR stops at around 90–95% and never reaches 100% on the first charge — is the battery faulty?

No. The charge IC in the QCPR applies a tighter voltage ceiling on a new, unconditioned cell to avoid overcharging an unknown pack. The cell reads as full to the protection circuit before the display algorithm agrees. Complete one full charge-discharge-charge cycle and the indicator will reach 100% consistently from the second charge onward.
